On the afternoon of July 22, Zhang Jianwei, Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CCPIT Beijing and President of Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC), led a delegation to visit Arup, where they met with Kate West, Chief Officer APAC, Business & Markets at Arup. Zhu Jialiang, Vice Chairman of CCPIT Beijing attended the meeting, along with officials from both sides.
Kate West provided a detailed overview of Arup’s business portfolio and core strengths. As a leading global engineering consultancy, Arup’s expertise extends beyond traditional engineering design to include front-end strategic consulting, digital transformation, and sustainable development solutions. Its integrated “consulting + technology” model can provide strong support for enhancing urban resilience, advancing smart transportation planning, and aligning projects with net-zero standards. Drawing on its international experience, Arup expressed its willingness to support Beijing’s urban renewal and net-zero park development, promote the mutual recognition of green standards between China and Europe, and provide end-to-end technical support for Chinese enterprises seeking to expand into overseas markets.
Zhang Jianwei thanked Arup for its long-standing commitment to the Beijing market and its contributions to the capital’s development. He spoke highly of Arup’s role as a think tank supporting the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing and related activities, and expressed the hope that Arup would continue to provide professional support for economic and trade cooperation with Beijing. He emphasized that Beijing is at a critical stage of urban renewal and green transition and therefore urgently needs to strengthen cooperation with international companies such as Arup, which combine a global perspective and local experience. He proposed that the two sides establish a a regular communication mechanism focusing on areas such as net-zero park development, China-Europe technology exchanges, and resource sharing. He also suggested exploring deeper cooperation through platforms such as China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) and Beijing International Investment and Trade Conference (BIIT) to jointly support the capital’s high-standard opening-up.
