From June 30 to July 3, an economic and trade delegation led by CCPIT Beijing visited New York City and Washington, D.C. During the visit, the delegation met with local government agencies and business associations, held economic and trade matchmaking events, and promoted Beijing’s business environment, thereby supporting Beijing-based enterprises in expanding their overseas operations.
Two trade promotion and matchmaking events are held to promote exchanges with local partners
On the afternoon of June 30, CCPIT Beijing and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce jointly held the Beijing-New York Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion and Matchmaking Event. Zhang Fan, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, and Randy Peers, President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, attended the event. Randy Peers welcomed Beijing delegation, noting that CCPIT Beijing and the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC) are important partners of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. He said Brooklyn and Beijing enjoy broad prospects for cooperation in areas including food, energy, pharmaceuticals, and cultural creativity industries, and expressed the hope that the two sides would maintain regular exchanges and help enterprises deepen two-way investment and trade cooperation. The delegation introduced Beijing’s business environment and innovation ecosystem, and invited New York enterprises to participate in major events in Beijing, including the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), ZGC Forum, and the China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC), while encouraging them to invest and develop business in Beijing. Representatives from Beijing North Star, Minli Energy Storage, LLVision, iSoftStone, Lingze Medical, and other enterprises presented their products and services, seeking cooperating with US companies in areas such as market development and brand promotion. The event concluded with business matchmaking and networking sessions between enterprises from both sides.
On the morning of July 1, CCPIT Beijing, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development of Washington, D.C. (DMPED), and the World Trade Center Washington, D.C. jointly hosted the Beijing-Washington Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion and Matchmaking Event. Wang Peijun, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in the US; Anthony Andrews, senior representative of DMPED; Allyson McKithen, Executive Director of the World Trade Center Washington, D.C.; and Chinyere Hubbard, President of the DC Chamber of Commerce attended the event. Representatives from the US-China Business Council, the CCPIT Representative Office in the US, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations also participated. Anthony Andrews noted that Washington, D.C. and Beijing have maintained a sister-city relationship for many years, supported by close economic ties and frequent people-to-people exchanges, making them a model of subnational cooperation between China and the United States. He expressed the hope that the two cities would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation across a broad range of fields and jointly elevate their sister-city relationship to a new level. Representatives from US government agencies and business associations, including the DC Small Business Development Center, the Soft-Landing Program Office, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District, and the DC Chamber of Commerce, introduced policies and business support services related to industrial development, tax incentives, and business establishment. The delegation highlighted the opportunities created by Beijing’s high-quality development and high-standard opening-up, and invited Washington-based enterprises to visit, invest in, and expand their business presence in Beijing.
The delegation expands exchange channels in the US to broaden the international network
At noon on June 30, the delegation met with the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce. The two sides reached consensus on strengthening mechanism-based exchanges and cooperation between chambers of commerce and supporting two-way investment and trade cooperation between enterprises in Beijing and New York, including business visits and soft-landing services. The Greater New York Chamber of Commerce was invited to organize a business delegation visit to Beijing at an appropriate time.
On the morning of July 1, the delegation met with Nina Albert, Deputy Mayor of Washington, D.C. Nina Albert welcomed the delegation and expressed the hope that, under the sister-city framework, organizations participating in the Soft-Landing Program would leverage their complementary strengths to deepen practical cooperation with Beijing in key areas such as technological innovation, financial services, and biomedicine, thereby continuously injecting new momentum into bilateral economic and trade exchanges. The delegation introduced relevant developments in investment and trade cooperation between Beijing and Washington. Wang Peijun also attended the meeting.
Later that afternoon, the delegation met with the DC Chamber of Commerce. The two sides agreed to establish a friendly cooperative relationship and promote economic and trade exchanges between enterprises in Beijing and Washington, D.C., and signed a friendly cooperation agreement on site.
The delegation visits Chinese institutions abroad to strengthen coordination and continue sharing resources in the US
On the afternoon of July 1, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy and the CCPIT Representative Office in the US, where they exchanged views on further strengthening trade promotion platforms, advancing China-US economic and trade exchanges, and providing more effective support for Chinese enterprises expanding into the US market. The Chinese Embassy and the CCPIT Representative Office warmly invited the delegation to tour their main meeting facilities. They expressed the hope of further sharing resources in the US with Beijing and inviting more economic and trade delegations from Beijing in conducting exchanges in Washington, D.C.
Going forward, CCPIT Beijing will continue to expand channels for exchanges and cooperation between Beijing and the US by strengthening economic and trade platforms, facilitating business delegation visits, and promoting sustained engagement between enterprises on both sides.
