From April 19 to 22, CCPIT Beijing led a delegation of 23 representatives from 10 enterprises to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
During the visit, the delegation paid visits to the Mission of China to the African Union (AU), the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, and local business associations. Minister Counselor Lyu Ruihao of the Mission briefed the delegation on Africa’s current political and economic landscape and designated staff to coordinate preparations for upcoming economic and trade exchanges during the sub-forum framework. Minister Counselor Liu Xiaoguang of the Embassy engaged in in-depth discussions with the delegation on key sectors, including automobile manufacturing, modern construction, mobile communications, biopharmaceuticals, cross-border finance, water conservancy and mining, and legal services. The delegation shared key economic and trade information with the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations. Both chambers expressed their intention to participate in the 2026 Beijing Promotion on Supply Chain. The delegation also compared notes with the China Chamber of Commerce to Africa on related forum preparations.
On the morning of April 21, the delegation participated in and co-organized the Inaugural Meeting of China-Africa Entrepreneurs Summit, which brought together more than 700 representatives from the governments, enterprises, and social organizations. The event featured remarks by Taye Atske Selassie, President of Ethiopia; Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission; Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union and China’s Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa; Dr. Amany Asfour, President of the African Business Council; and Li Qingyong, President of the China Chamber of Commerce to Africa. During the summit, the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce signed a memorandum of friendly cooperation with the China Chamber of Commerce to Africa. Two Beijing-based enterprises—Pengsheng Taihe (Beijing) International Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. and NoraFirst—each signed a cooperation agreement with Ethiopia’s Yantu iCar EV Trading PLC.
On the afternoon of April 21, CCPIT Beijing held the China (Beijing)-Ethiopia Economic and Trade Exchange Session at the AU Headquarters. Centered on financial and trade cooperation, the meeting brought together more than 60 Chinese and African enterprises. It was addressed by Wang Zhensheng, representative of the Chinese Mission to the African Union; Dr. Amany Asfour, President of the African Business Council; Islam Swaleh, representative of the African Union Commission’s Department of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals; and Wu Jiuyi, Secretary-General of the China Chamber of Commerce to Africa. The CCPIT Beijing delegation presented Beijing’s business environment, while the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations outlined Ethiopia’s strengths in economic and trade resources. The African Development Bank and NoraFirst also delivered corporate presentations.
The visit yielded tangible outcomes. Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals secured an order from a local pharmaceutical company. Beiqi Foton Motor shook hands on a procurement worth nearly RMB 10 million with the Ethiopian-registered subsidiary of Daye Xinye Special Steel Co., Ltd. In addition, NoraFirst and eight local enterprises expressed strong interest in cooperation on cross-border payments. CCPIT Beijing will leverage this visit as an opportunity to further support Beijing-based enterprises in exploring the African market, expanding their development opportunities, and deepening economic and trade cooperation between Beijing and Africa.
