2026-2-5 17:35:51

The 2026 Beijing Meeting on Trade Promotion was successfully held on February 2. Zhang Jianwei, Secretary of CCPIT Beijing’s Party Leadership Group, delivered a work report, while CCPIT Chairperson Li Xiangying conveyed the guiding principles of the 2026 National Meeting on Trade Promotion. Leaders from the governments of Dongcheng District, Daxing District, and Changping District also delivered remarks.

The meeting noted that in 2025, Beijing’s trade promotion system conscientiously implemented the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council as well as the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the municipal government. Solid progress was achieved in advancing the overall framework for external engagement, developing new economic and trade platforms, and expanding international cooperation and service networks, thus contributing to Beijing’s high-standard opening-up and high-quality development.

The meeting called upon Beijing’s trade promotion agencies to closely align with China’s initiatives for the “Year of Synergy” and the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the municipal government, sparing no effort to organize signature events including the meeting of the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing, China Beijing International High-tech Expo, and Beijing International Fair for Investment and Trade. These agencies are also expected to formulate and implement the 15th Five-Year Beijing Trade Promotion Development Plan (2026-2030), consolidate and expand international liaison channels, refine enterprise service networks, and support the upgrading of the MICE industry, striving to make new achievements and contributions in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

The meeting underscored that, given the evolving landscape and newly defined tasks for opening up during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing’s trade promotion agencies should gauge the overarching trends, chart forward-looking pathways, and gain insights into the profound shifts in the development environment. By leveraging their distinctive role in connecting government and enterprises, linking domestic and international markets, and facilitating supply-demand matchmaking, these agencies are positioned to serve as a pioneering force in advancing the capital’s high-standard opening-up. Efforts should be grounded in the realities and actionable measures. These agencies should engage enterprises directly to understand their needs, implement targeted policies to address challenges in market expansion and risk mitigation, and harness technology to deliver smarter, more precise enterprise services. They should advance connectivity and collaboration to cultivate a holistic perspective, make comprehensive use of domestic and international resources, deepen cooperation between CCPIT Beijing and the municipal government, and enhance cross-departmental and cross-regional coordination to generate a formidable collective force in support of high-standard opening-up. Furthermore, institutional foundations should be reinforced through stronger Party leadership, greater team cohesion, and stricter work discipline, thereby providing firm safeguards for the high-quality advancement of trade promotion initiatives.

The meeting brought together leaders from the Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Municipal Science & Technology Commission, the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park, the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Municipal Commerce Bureau, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the Municipal Federation of Industry & Commerce, the Municipal Investment Promotion Bureau, and Beijing Customs. Also present were officials from district governments, the Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, trade promotion councils of various districts, as well as the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce and its specialized committees.
