To help enterprises better understand Beijing’s policies on high-standard opening-up and further improve the city's business environment, CCPIT Beijing, the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce, and the Beijing Academy of International Economy and Trade jointly hosted the “Series of Beijing International Economic and Trade Lecture: How Beijing Can Improve Its Business Environment to Attract More Foreign Investment” on December 16. The lecture was delivered by Lang Lihua, a professor at the Capital University of Economics and Business, and Wei Hao, a professor at the Business School of Beijing Normal University and Director of the National Import Research Center. The event was live-streamed via the WeChat official account of the China Chamber of International Commerce. More than 280 representatives from business associations and enterprises participated online.
Professor Lang Lihua outlined Beijing’s business environment from five perspectives: industrial market access, data flows, cross-border capital movement, talent advantages, and tax incentives. She analyzed key factors influencing the business environment’s appeal and put forward recommendations for further attracting foreign investment, including unlocking import potential, enhancing coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (Jing-Jin-Ji) region, and deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Professor Wei Hao emphasized the necessity of expanding imports. Centering on four dimensions—import policies and measures, China’s current import landscape, import dependence and growth potential, and consumer goods imports—he delivered an in-depth analysis of import prospects and policy orientation. He further proposed measures including lowering tariffs, advancing cross-border e-commerce, and establishing import demonstration zones to facilitate the import of consumer goods.
