On the afternoon of December 8, a delegation led by Zhang Jianwei, Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CCPIT Beijing, and Li Xiangying, Chairperson of CCPIT Beijing, held a working meeting with Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China Operations and China Chief Representative at the China–Britain Business Council (CBBC). The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on further deepening practical cooperation between the business communities of Beijing and the United Kingdom, as well as on establishing a platform for routine exchanges.
Tom Simpson reviewed the history and development of the CBBC as a bridge for China–UK economic and trade relations, and introduced the Council’s work in China in areas such as industrial matchmaking, policy coordination, and corporate services. He noted that the CBBC attaches great importance to cooperation with Beijing and expressed the hope that both sides would strengthen collaboration in fields including financial services, technological innovation, and the green economy. He also proposed jointly organizing a variety of economic and trade promotion activities to create more practical cooperation opportunities for enterprises from both countries.
Zhang Jianwei stated that CCPIT Beijing, as a key institution linking government and enterprises and promoting international economic and trade exchanges, has long been committed to expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation channels and supporting enterprises in their international operations. He called on more UK business delegations to visit Beijing for business exchanges and to leverage platforms such as the China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC), the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), and the Beijing International Investment and Trade Conference (BIIT) to jointly organize themed economic and trade dialogues and business matchmaking activities. He expressed the hope that, building on mutual visits by business delegations, both sides would carry out pragmatic cooperation, promote in-depth engagement between government and business communities, and advance high-quality development of trade and investment between China and the UK.
