2025-11-27 10:41:25

On November 20, CCPIT Beijing hosted the “Connecting the World, Investing in Beijing, Sharing the Future”—Exchanges with South African Construction Firms at the headquarters of Beijing Capital Highway Development Group (BCHD). Thirty-five senior executives from construction firms participating in the University of Pretoria’s GIBS Global Executive Development Programme attended.

Zhu Jialiang, Vice Chairman of CCPIT Beijing and Vice President & Secretary General of the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC), and Lebogang Phasha, Executive Manager, ETQA & Projects at the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) of the University of Pretoria, delivered remarks at the event. Wang Jian, General Manager of BCHD, presented the group’s recent developments, accompanied by Zhang Changying, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee. Representatives from CCPIT Beijing’s Investment Promotion Department, as well as the BCHD’s investment and operations departments and affiliated companies, also participated in the discussions.

The South African delegation first toured the group’s information center, where they learned about road network traffic monitoring, scheduling operations, and information services. During the subsequent symposium and one-on-one matchmaking session, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on international cooperation in major transportation infrastructure as well as China-Africa investment and trade collaboration.

Zhu Jialiang noted that South Africa is one of Africa’s most economically advanced nations—rich in natural resources, supported by sound infrastructure, endowed with a favorable investment climate, and distinguished by significant market potential. It is a strategic partner in cultivating a high-standard China–Africa community of shared future and advancing high-quality development of BRI projects. Committed to connecting government and enterprises, linking domestic and international markets, and facilitating supply-demand matchmaking, CCPIT Beijing and the BCIC will continue to establish networking platforms and organize high-quality economic and trade exchanges to provide enterprises with comprehensive international services. This event laid a solid foundation for broader and deeper interactions between Beijing and South African construction firms. Moving forward, CCPIT Beijing will vigorously support enterprises from both sides in carrying out multi-level, diversified exchanges and collaboration. It will leverage its platforms to facilitate technical research, project matchmaking, and experience sharing, and will assist South African companies in investing and developing business in Beijing.

Lebogang Phasha expressed his appreciation for the arrangements made by CCPIT Beijing and BCHD. He noted that as a global metropolis, Beijing possesses extensive experience in the planning, financing, construction, management, and operation of key infrastructure, reinforcing its role as a center for international exchanges. The delegation gained meaningful insights from the visit. He added that South Africa is committed to advancing socioeconomic development and upgrading its infrastructure, and recognizes the significant opportunities for cooperation with Beijing. It will broaden and deepen exchanges with local stakeholders and promote practical collaboration on specific projects.

The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), headquartered in Illovo, Johannesburg, is one of Africa’s leading business schools. Its executive education programs are globally recognized and consistently ranked among the Financial Times’ Global Top 50. This event provided a valuable platform for Beijing’s construction firms to engage with high-profile international partners and expand their cooperative networks across Africa.
