On the morning of October 14, Zhang Jianwei, Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CCPIT Beijing and President of Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC), met with a delegation led by Walid Farghal, Secretary General of AIM Global Foundation in the UAE. The two sides reached several agreements through in-depth discussions on practical cooperation between Beijing and the UAE in areas such as investment, innovation, and MICE. Liu Yang, First-Level Inspector of CCPIT Beijing, attended the meeting with officials from relevant departments of both sides.
Zhang Jianwei welcomed Walid Farghal, and provided an overview of Beijing’s socioeconomic development as well as the functions of CCPIT Beijing and the BCIC. He noted that as the capital of China, and with distinctive strengths in finance, technology, and the digital economy, Beijing remains firmly committed to advancing high-level opening-up, continuously improving its business environment, and accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces. He emphasized that the UAE, as an important BRI partner, enjoys strong economic complementarity with Beijing and vast potential for collaboration. Zhang expressed CCPIT Beijing and BCIC’s readiness to strengthen institutional ties with the AIM Global Foundation, jointly build high-quality platforms for enterprise exchange and industrial cooperation, support more Beijing-based enterprises in expanding into the Middle East and other international markets through the UAE, and welcome more UAE enterprises to invest and grow in Beijing to share in the city’s development opportunities.
Walid Farghal introduced the AIM Global Foundation and the AIM Congress, highlighting their development journey and extensive global network. He expressed a high regard for Beijing’s achievements in technological innovation and green development, and a strong interest in deepening cooperation with the city. He noted that the AIM platform brings together government, investment, and business leaders from around the world, and stands ready to serve as a bridge for promoting Beijing’s development opportunities and investment environment. He also expressed his interest in facilitating local enterprises’ entry into Middle Eastern and other international markets, as well as in participating in signature events such as the China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) and the Beijing International Investment and Trade Conference (BIIT).
Both sides agreed to establish a mechanism for routine cooperation, so as to prioritize key areas and advance the flow of two-way investments.
