Below is the full transcript of the press conference.
Dear members of the media,
Good afternoon. Welcome to the closing press conference of the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). I am Zhao Ping, Spokesperson for CCPIT. Hosted by CCPIT, the 3rd CISCE opened with great fanfare on July 16 and will officially conclude this afternoon. We are honored to be joined today by Mr. Li Xingqian, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, who will provide an overview of the Expo and answer your questions. Also joining us are Mr. Yang Xiaojun, Director of the CCPIT Department of Industry Promotion; Mr. Lin Shunjie, Chairman of China International Exhibition Center Group Limited; and Ms. Li Xiangying, Chairperson of CCPIT Beijing. Without further ado, I would now like to invite Mr. Li Xingqian to deliver his remarks.
Dear members of the media,
Good afternoon. First, on behalf of CCPIT, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders at home and abroad for caring about and supporting CISCE. My special thanks go to the Chinese and international journalists who have actively covered the event. This year's Expo registered over 2,000 media representatives from China and overseas. According to preliminary statistics, as of now, 119,000 reports related to the 3rd CISCE have been published across domestic online platforms, representing a 52.8% increase compared to the same period last year. On the international front, over 6,200 reports in 11 languages have been released by more than 2,000 media outlets from 83 countries and regions, reflecting a YoY increase of approx. 26%.
Through immersive live broadcasts, photo and text reports, short videos, and in-depth exclusive interviews, our media colleagues have vividly illustrated CISCE's dedication to maintaining the stability and smooth operation of global industry and supply chains, while powerfully conveying the transformation from supply chains to "collaboration chains"—the very core of the "CISCE Legend". Your dedication and professionalism are truly admirable. Without your tireless efforts, this globally acclaimed event would not have been possible. Once again, thank you all.
Although established just over two years ago, CISCE has already risen as a globally recognized platform for international trade, with an increasing focus on "Connecting the World for a Shared Future". This year's Expo is more focused, practical, and distinguished than ever. Allow me to briefly summarize it from three perspectives.
First, the 3rd CISCE aligns with the spirit of the times and fosters broad consensus. At present, the world is entering into a new era of turbulence and transformation, marked by rising unilateralism and protectionism, and growing headwinds against economic globalization. In his opening address, Vice Premier He Lifeng noted that mutual respect, solidarity, cooperation, and the pursuit of win-win outcomes are essential for shared growth and common prosperity. He urged the international business community to play a steadfast, proactive, and key role in ensuring the stability and smooth operation of global industry and supply chains—a message that garnered widespread resonance. The Beijing Initiative of the 3rd CISCE reflects this vision, encapsulating a universal agreement on strengthening openness and cooperation across global industry and supply chain networks.
The CISCE drew a significant international presence, with numerous foreign dignitaries traveling specifically to attend. South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile led a team of ministers and business representatives on a visit to China for the Expo. Thailand, honored as the guest of the year, dispatched a high-level delegation to participate and showcase its offerings. More than 40 executives from Fortune 500 companies made special trips to attend, including Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, who participated in CISCE-related activities in Beijing for four consecutive days. Leaders from the Bureau International des Expositions, the International Chamber of Commerce, the International Trademark Association, and the Sustainable Markets Council were also in attendance. In total, 172 overseas delegations were present at the Expo—a 120% increase over the previous session. These developments underscore the global recognition of the CISCE as a platform not only for China, but for the world.
Second, the 3rd CISCE has proved to be unprecedentedly fruitful. A total of 1,200 enterprises and institutions from China and abroad exhibited at the event. Combined online and offline attendance surpassed 210,000, up 5% from the previous edition. Delegations from 79 ministries and commissions, as well as provincial, autonomous regional, and municipal governments, were present, alongside representatives from a large number of universities and research institutes. More than 24,000 targeted matchmaking sessions took place between exhibitors and trade visitors—four times the number recorded at the previous Expo. Exhibitors launched 152 new products, technologies, and services for the first time, representing a 67% YoY increase. Among these, 55 made their global debut at CISCE, drawing over 50 million live-stream views. In addition, exhibitors established partnerships with 42,000 upstream and downstream enterprises. According to preliminary data, over 6,000 cooperation agreements and partnership intentions were signed on site. Though the Expo spans just five days, it serves as a year-round platform for exchanges and collaboration. Following the previous two editions, many exhibitors and partners have c maintained their engagement, turning numerous intentions into concrete achievements. CISCE serves as a fertile ground where seeds are sown during the event and bear fruit afterward. This year, some delegations of foreign-funded enterprises are already conducting field visits across various regions. For more details, please refer to the CISCE Legend brochure available at your seats.
During the Expo, a total of 70 conferences and events were held, attracting over 14,000 participants—including members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, executives from Fortune 500 companies, and leaders of international organizations. Exhibitors conducted thousands of presentations, briefings, technical sessions, and product demonstrations at their booths, far exceeding last year's numbers. Highlights included themed activities within the "6 Chains + 1 Exhibition Area", spotlight sessions featuring Shandong and Guangdong as guest provinces and Thailand as guest country, over 20 regional industry promotions, sector-specific exchanges focused on clean energy and AI, and bilateral economic and trade events between China and countries such as the US and Mexico…All of these activities drew standing-room-only audiences. The Mainland-Hong Kong and Mainland-Macao Business Associations Joint Conferences successfully took place—marking the first time in over two decades that both events were held on the Chinese mainland. Additionally, as 2025 marks the "Year of China" for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the SCO Business Forum was successfully held on the occasion of the Expo.
During the 3rd CISCE, CCPIT issued several key reports, including the "Global Supply Chain Promotion Report 2025", "SCO Supply Chain Development Research Report", and "Maritime Arbitration Supporting Enterprise Engagement in Global Supply Chain: A Research Study". It also launched the inaugural Global Supply Chain Index Matrix and jointly published the "2025 White Paper on Risks Within Industry Chains" with PICC. Additionally, over 200 exhibitors joined together to form an alliance, while numerous enterprises and institutions unveiled high-impact research findings.
Third, this year’s CISCE is distinguished by its commitment to green development and frugality. Upholding the principles of "eco-friendly and sustainable" exhibition practices, we endeavored to create a zero-carbon, zero-plastic Expo. Chinese and international enterprises jointly presented the "Sustainable Lighthouse Factory" model, contributing "CISCE solutions" for the global green transformation of industry and supply chains. A variety of seminars and exchange activities focused on low-carbon development were organized by various stakeholders. The Sustainable Markets Initiative China Forum was successfully held during the Expo, with King Charles III of the United Kingdom sending a congratulatory message.
The enthusiasm among domestic and international participants has surged, making exhibition slots highly sought after. Adhering to chain-based thinking, we implemented a rigorous selection process and raised the threshold for participation. As a result, more than 200 companies from around the world were unable to secure a place this year. This morning, we hosted a signing ceremony for participation in the 4th CISCE, where 102 companies and institutions confirmed their participation—a 50% increase in on-site signings compared to last year. We welcome your continued interest in and support for the Expo. Let us work together to connect the world for a shared future. We encourage all interested enterprises and institutions to apply for the next year’s CISCE at the earliest opportunity. Thank you.
Q1: Reporter from the CCTV News Center
The 3rd CISCE has concluded successfully. Compared with the previous two editions, what are the highlights and innovations of this year's event? Could you sum it up in a single word?
CCPIT Vice Chairman Li Xingqian
Thank you for your question. The CISCE serves as a vital platform for China to promote international cooperation across industry and supply chains. As a significant global public good, it contributes to the stability and efficiency of these chains, underscoring China's commitment to fostering an open world economy and a shared future for mankind. Compared with the previous two editions, this Expo stands out for its elevated caliber, stronger appeal, broader engagement, and more tangible outcomes. If I were to summarize it in a single word, it would be "thriving". Nations thrive through cooperation, and businesses thrive through connection. Allow me to elaborate on three major highlights:
First, the CISCE has become more "international". Since its inception, the Expo has witnessed a consistent increase in the proportion of overseas exhibitors—from 26% at its inaugural edition to 32% at the second, and now reaching 35%. Notably, over 65% of international participants are Fortune 500 companies or global industry leaders. The geographic footprint of exhibitors has also broadened significantly, expanding from 55 countries and regions at the first event to 75 this year. A large number of companies from the US, the EU, and Japan actively participated. A total of 25 international organizations attended the Expo, eight of which exhibited—including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the UN Commission on International Trade Law, and the World Intellectual Property Organization. A total of 172 overseas delegations visited to explore cooperation opportunities, with many foreign chambers of commerce and trade associations expressing their intent to organize business participation for next year. Following Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's recent visit to China, a large number of Australian business leaders attended the Expo in pursuit of new partnerships. Companies and institutions from BRI partner countries also participated with enthusiasm. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, which attended last year, returned with 13 companies. Major business associations from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, as well as the four leading chambers of commerce from Hong Kong and seven associations from Macao, all sent delegations. In a showcase of international collaboration, Ningbo-based enterprises jointly exhibited with counterparts from five Central and Eastern European countries. To underscore the Expo's inclusiveness, we also facilitated participation from several developing countries—such as Rwanda, Mozambique, and Honduras—by offering complimentary exhibition opportunities, helping them better integrate into global industrial system.
Second, the CISCE has become more innovative. With a focus on accelerating the development of new quality productive forces, we introduced a dedicated Innovation Chain section within the Advanced Manufacturing Chain exhibition area. A new highlight, the "CISCE Debut Platform", was launched under the theme "New Products, Shared Future". Building on last year's release of the Global Supply Chain Promotion Index and Connectivity Index, this year we unveiled the Global Supply Chain Innovation Index and Resilience Index, thereby establishing a Global Supply Chain Index Matrix. For the first time, an industrial map was created encompassing the "6 Chains + 1 Exhibition Area". Emerging industries such as embodied intelligence and the low-altitude economy captured significant attention. Leading enterprises—including Unitree Robotics, BrainCo, and UBTECH—joined 22 tech firms from Hubei province to stage a spectacular "Robot Rally". In the Innovation Integration zone, 12 specialized and sophisticated "Little Giant" enterprises hosted an aerial drone showcase. Coinciding with the cinematic release of "F1: The Movie", the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) made its debut at the Expo, offering visitors a firsthand experience of China's growing influence in motorsport. This year's exhibition design focused heavily on experiential, interactive, and immersive storytelling. Visitors could explore supply chain networks from an engineer's perspective, tour virtual factories, sample drinks from intelligent robots, and use XR glasses to engage with e-commerce, social media, and cultural tourism scenarios.
Third, the CISCE has become more interconnected. It now functions as a powerful magnet, attracting stakeholders across the full length of the industry chain. Rather than focusing solely on on-site transaction volumes, the Expo prioritizes long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. This year, we introduced an innovative and refined evaluation system for the Expo, further emphasizing its role in helping exhibitors and trade visitors "make connections, find partners, discover solutions, and identify application scenarios". The widely acclaimed "Expo 3.0" has made a significant impact, with an increasing number of Chinese and international enterprises recognizing the CISCE's unique value and distinctive approach to presenting the supply chain ecosystem. Supply chain champions co-exhibited with upstream and downstream partners, telling compelling stories of collaboration. For example, Apple has partnered for a third time with Chinese suppliers to showcase the latest technologies in smart and green manufacturing. Rio Tinto and China Baowu Steel Group once again appeared side by side, underscoring their achievements in global collaboration. Provincial delegations representing key industry clusters were also present, including Zhejiang's digital technology, Guizhou's big data, Hubei's humanoid robotics, and Shaanxi's automotive manufacturing sectors. Global exhibitors experienced innovations firsthand and engage in professional exchanges on-site, with many reaching agreements to pursue further cooperation. The newly established Alliance of Chinese and Foreign Exhibitors will work closely with the China International Chamber of Commerce's industry committees to support both domestic and international enterprises, contributing to the vision of a "never-ending Expo". In fact, many foreign guests have affectionately nicknamed CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin "Mr. Chain Maker". We believe that strengthening global industrial linkages will foster prosperity and drive the revitalization of world economy.
Q2: Reporter from China News Service
This year's Expo attracted a large number of domestic and international exhibitors. How did they respond?
Thank you for your question. This year marks the third consecutive edition of the CISCE. The exhibitor lineup features both returning participants and first-time attendees. Notably, some international trade visitors from previous editions returned this year as exhibitors. Overall exhibitor satisfaction reached 95%, with widespread praise for the Expo's significant impact, outstanding quality, and tangible results, which are aptly described as the "fruits of midsummer". Many exhibitors expressed an interest in returning next year for an even grander event, alongside a broader spectrum of global suppliers and clients. Feedback has largely converged around the following three areas:
First, the CISCE offers a glimpse into the industry's future. As a key component of the Expo, exhibitors frequently generated buzz by showcasing their flagship technologies and premium offerings, which range from "aerial buses" to "land-based aircraft carriers", from landmark national innovations such as Tian Kun Hao and Kun Lun Hao to cyborgs like Howling Celestial Dog, Spider-Man, and Awakened Lion. The CISCE Debut Platform serves as a launchpad for cutting-edge global products, technologies, and solutions, providing a vivid snapshot of the latest breakthroughs across global industry and supply chains. These innovations span diverse sectors, including IT, AI, genetic engineering, and healthcare. Many exhibitors said that CISCE not only offered a window into the future of their industries, but also ignited fresh inspiration and uncovered new avenues for collaboration.
Second, the sense of fulfillment exceeds expectations. The CISCE radiated dynamic momentum in industry and supply chain cooperation, establishing itself as a prominent showcase and practical platform for the global Industry 4.0 era. At events like the welcoming banquet and the "CISCE Night" exhibitor networking event, leaders of Chinese and international enterprises and business associations engaged in animated discussions on collaboration and shared development. Even after official activities ended, many participants remained engrossed in conversation, reluctant to part ways. A defining feature of the Expo is the presence of senior executives—rather than just sales staff—at exhibitor booths, personally seeking partnerships and cultivating relationships. Many companies sent large delegations, often numbering in the hundreds, including CEOs, Chief Procurement Officers, and Chief Operating Officers, who actively engaged with potential partners throughout the exhibition halls. Some first-time participants mobilized additional personnel on short notice to expand their presence. A Zhejiang-based automotive firm secured an order for 400 methanol-hydrogen heavy-duty trucks worth over RMB 200 million, achieving its most successful outing at the Expo to date. A Guangdong-based company received over 1,000 pre-orders for its self-developed compound-wing flying car. Numerous exhibitors reached preliminary cooperation agreements with upstream and downstream partners on new technologies and products. Meanwhile, several ministries and local governments leveraged CISCE as a platform for research and investment promotion, offering policy briefings to exhibitors and soliciting feedback on policy reform. Enterprises that have participated in all three editions of the Expo have gained a deeper understanding of its presentation logic, delivered increasingly fabulous showcases, and forged a growing network of partners.
Third, cross-sector connections are more effective. The CISCE has successfully bridged multiple stages between research breakthroughs and marketing, catalyzing a “chemical reaction” and fostering “ecological restructuring” across the entire industry chain. Making its debut at this Expo, Airbus assembled 10 upstream and downstream partners to present a comprehensive view of the large aircraft industry—from raw material sourcing to end-use applications. Jinma Weighing Apparatus and Jishuo Technologies, two “specialized and sophisticated” enterprises, connected at a previous Expo. This year, they jointly showcased the outcomes of their collaboration, unveiling a new smart ecosystem and signing on-site agreements for continued cooperation. The true allure of the Expo lies not only in intra-industry exchanges, but also in the synergies sparked by cross-sector and interdisciplinary collaboration. One agricultural enterprise, for example, drew inspiration from the automotive industry's "zero-inventory supply chain management model" and the new-energy sector's "full life-cycle carbon footprint tracking system", and is now rethinking its development strategy and trajectory.
Over the course of just five days, exhibitors achieved substantial results. They tirelessly engaged with potential partners and conducted on-site visits in pursuit of collaborative projects. Many international business associations have expressed their intent to organize follow-up delegations for localized, in-depth business matchmaking, hoping to rapidly convert partnership intentions into concrete projects. That concludes my introduction.
Q3: Reporter from Phoenix TV
As the host city of this year's Expo, what unique roles has Beijing played?
Li Xiangying, Chairperson of CCPIT Beijing
Thank you for your question. The five-day event concluded successfully, serving as an international platform for enterprises and institutions to strengthen cooperation and pursue shared development. It clearly demonstrated China's commitment as a major country to maintaining the stability and smooth functioning of industry and supply chains. As the host city, Beijing has provided strong backing for the CISCE throughout the process. By focusing on service support, the recruitment of investors and exhibitors, and event organization, the city has made substantial contributions to the success of the Expo.
First, the CISCE delivered comprehensive and refined services to ensure a premium exhibition environment. Beijing's leaders have placed strong emphasis on the Expo, regarding it as an important platform for the capital city to promote high-quality economic development and enhancing its international influence. Party Secretary Yin Li closely followed the Expo’s preparations, highlighting the importance of delivering top-tier support services. Mayor Yin Yong issued detailed instructions on the preparatory work and personally attended major Expo events. Vice Mayor Sima Hong spearheaded coordination efforts, promptly mobilizing resources to tackle key challenges and conducting on-site inspections. As the principal coordinator of Expo support efforts, CCPIT Beijing has proactively fulfilled its duties by expanding the coordination framework to include Beijing SASAC, the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Municipal Investment Bureau. This has significantly enhanced organizational support for service delivery and exhibition participation. In close collaboration with the Expo's sponsor and host, CCPIT Beijing has established a three-tier coordination structure spanning municipal, district, and event levels. It has also strengthened coordination with CCPIT and Shunyi District task forces to ensure early deployment and effective implementation of support measures. The Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee pooled media resources to provide comprehensive and multidimensional coverage of the Expo's highlights. Beijing Customs introduced 14 facilitation measures to support the 3rd CISCE. The Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation mobilized over 450 volunteers from more than 10 universities across the capital. The Municipal Commission of Urban Management facilitated promotional displays and undertook environmental beautification to foster a dynamic atmosphere. The Municipal Commission of Transport and the Municipal Public Security Bureau deployed over 3,800 subway trains, buses, and taxis to ensure efficient and convenient mobility of Expo guests and visitors. Meanwhile, the Municipal Health Commission and Shunyi District Government enhanced emergency response capabilities by dispatching backup power supply vehicles, mobile communication support units, and uninterrupted power systems.
Second, the CISCE launched high-level investment promotions to advance mutually beneficial industrial cooperation. The Beijing-Anhui Promotion on Supply Chain 2025, held under the theme "Smart Supply Chain, Innovation for the Future", marked the first event organized at both provincial and municipal levels during the 3rd CISCE. It drew over 500 participants, including representatives from international organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, and leading enterprises across 20 countries and regions. These guests conducted in-depth analyses of the challenges and opportunities facing global supply chains, shared insights into how cutting-edge technologies are transforming traditional models, and proposed strategies for deepening Beijing-Anhui collaboration to support enterprises in their digital and intelligent transformation. The promotion featured one-on-one matchmaking sessions for 20 key enterprises and on-site interactions among 300 high-quality companies. It culminated in the signing of 14 cooperation agreements with a total intended investment exceeding RMB 5 billion. Among other events, the Round-table Dialogue: Promoting Digital and Intelligent Supply Chains explored topics on “Cross-border Integration & Application Scenarios” and “Eco-collaboration in Smart Supply Chain Development”, while the Thailand Investment Promotion Exchange produced notable outcomes in enhancing China-Thailand economic and trade cooperation, fostering regional supply chain development, and promoting industrial upgrading.
Third, the CISCE ensured high-quality enterprise participation, driving deeper integration across industry chains. CCPIT Beijing conducted extensive outreach across all 16 districts of the capital, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, and various industrial parks. In collaboration with CCPIT, it carried out in-depth field research in Yanqing and Fengtai Districts, actively promoting the Expo while advancing exhibitor recruitment efforts. A total of 22 central enterprises based in Beijing and 40 local companies from sectors including technological services and intelligent manufacturing were invited to the 3rd CISCE, marking an increase of 40% compared to the previous year. These companies showcased their strengths in technological R&D and model/product innovation, vividly demonstrating Beijing's stature as an international innovation center. Leveraging the CISCE platform, CCPIT Beijing, together with the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform and the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau, aligned its efforts with national strategies and the capital's functional positioning, with a focus on high-end and frontier sectors such as next-generation IT, healthcare, green energy, and the digital economy. They called on enterprises and institutions to engage in industrial cooperation, investment promotion, and project exchanges, further expanding Beijing's global industrial collaboration network. Additionally, CCPIT Beijing organized a visit by the Federation of Thai Industries' investment delegation to the manufacturing bases of Foton Motor and Sany Renewable Energy, fostering a robust platform for China-Thailand cooperation in areas such as technology and environmental protection. During the 3rd CISCE, we invited representatives from all levels of government, industrial parks, financial institutions, and the business community for field visits and on-site exchanges. As a result, more than 10,000 trade visitors attended the Expo and related meetings.
The CISCE presents a great opportunity for Beijing's high-quality economic development. CCPIT Beijing will remain steadfast in its support for the event, leveraging its international platform and resources to amplify its spillover benefits. We will remain committed to“connecting government and enterprises, bridging domestic and international markets, and facilitating supply-demand matchmaking”. Through proactive platform-building, channel expansion, and service enhancement, we aim to further deepen collaboration between Chinese and international enterprises across industry and supply chains, thereby making a greater contribution to Beijing's high-level opening-up. Thank you.
Q4: Reporter from Macao Daily News
The appearance of Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA Corporation, at the Expo drew significant attention from both Chinese and international media. In the context of today's global landscape, what message does his presence convey?
CCPIT Vice Chairman Li Xingqian
Thank you for your question. In addition to first-time participants such as NVIDIA, the 3rd CISCE also welcomed returning exhibitors including Apple, Tesla, Honeywell, and Cargill—US companies that have taken part in all three editions. This year, American enterprises and institutions were represented across the "6 Chains + 1 Exhibition Area", with their participation increasing by 15% compared to the previous session. US exhibitors thus maintained the largest presence among all international participants, with their exhibition area expanding by 10%. Notably, 60% of the US exhibitors are Fortune 500 companies. Relevant departments of CCPIT, in collaboration with the Economic Section of the US Embassy in China, co-held a bilateral roundtable on the rail transit industry. The US Soybean Export Council organized a promotional event for the American soybean supply chain, while the American Chamber of Commerce in China led a delegation of member companies in a joint exhibition. China-US cooperation in industry and supply chains remains a prevailing trend. At a time when global trade and economic relations face increasing complexity, challenges, and uncertainty, the 3rd CISCE offers at least three encouraging signals:
First, China serves as an important link in the global industry and supply chains. Speaking to the media, Jensen Huang hailed China's supply chain as a "miracle"—a sentiment widely echoed across the global business community, including in the US. China is committed to high-quality development and is making rapid strides in green, digital, and intelligent transformation. With strong industrial support capabilities, it provides an ideal environment for the next round of industrial and technological revolutions. The CISCE vividly illustrates the breadth of China's supply chain system and its formidable capacity for production and innovation. China holds a key position in global industry and supply chains—without integrating China, these chains would find it difficult to connect with the world.
Second, the deep integration of global industry and supply chains is a consensus within the international business community. As economic globalization enters into a new phase, business collaboration is shifting its focus from individual products and technologies to the entire supply chain. Behind every exceptional product lies an efficient and dependable supply chain. As Apple CEO Tim Cook remarked during his special visit to the 2nd CISCE, "Without our Chinese suppliers, Apple wouldn't exist." This year, Apple once again participated alongside its Chinese partners. GE Healthcare, under the theme "Domestic Innovation, Resilient Chains, Shared Success", showcased the achievements of more than three decades of cooperation in China. These examples underscore China's role as a source of certainty and stability in the global economy. Deep integration with Chinese supply networks and an expanded commitment to openness and collaboration in industry and supply chains have become a pragmatic consensus among foreign-invested enterprises.
Third, China will continue to offer fertile ground for foreign investment and business development over the long term. As a new platform for advancing high-level opening-up, the CISCE underscores China's unwavering commitment to the multilateral trading system and the stability of global industry and supply chains. It reaffirms China's position as a main engine of global economic growth and a pillar of stability. For many foreign companies, establishing a foothold in China is a good way to invest in the future. ExxonMobil's ethylene project in Huizhou, Guangdong commenced production alongside the opening of the 3rd CISCE. Starbucks signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China's Envision Group during the Expo. McDonald's, together with nine major Chinese suppliers, launched the "China Regenerative Agriculture Plan" and held its Worldwide Supplier Summit on the occasion of the CISCE, drawing more than 400 participants. The conviction, "Trusting in China is trusting in tomorrow, and investing in China is investing in the future", is resonating more strongly than ever.
Q5: Reporter from Economic Daily
It was noted that one of the key highlights of this Expo is its emphasis on green practices. Could you elaborate on how this commitment is being demonstrated throughout the event?
Lin Shunjie, Chairman of China International Exhibition Center Group Limited
Thank you for your question. Green is the signature color of the CISCE. Since its inception, the Expo has vigorously supported China's "dual carbon" goals and embraced the principles of frugality and waste reduction. By enhancing its "green content", the Expo has further elevated its overall value. The 3rd CISCE stands out in the following aspects:
First, venue operations have become greener. For the first time, we achieved a 100% supply of green electricity. We upgraded the venues' energy systems by replacing conventional lighting with energy-efficient fixtures and implementing a low-carbon smart energy management system—thereby establishing a modern infrastructure centered on intelligent control and sustainable energy supply. We adopted a dual-track model that encompasses PV power generation and the purchase of green electricity certificates (GECs). PV installations on the rooftops of exhibition halls generated up to 50,000 kWh of electricity per day, while the procurement of GECs offset over 1,100 tons of CO₂ emissions and reduced electricity costs by more than 30% during the Expo.
Second, exhibition booth construction has become greener. We actively promote the concept of green booths by providing exhibitors with complimentary training on sustainable construction practices. Green principles, including modular structure, standardized components, and minimalist design, are established as a core criterion in the evaluation of booth proposals. Exhibitors are encouraged to use materials on hand and adopt eco-friendly, lightweight components while ensuring structural integrity and full functionality.
Third, the ways to visit the Expo are greener. The principles of “recycling, plastic reduction, and pollution control” are integrated into every aspect of the event and translated into measurable, replicable practices. The use of physical tickets has been largely replaced by QR code scanning, while staff credentials are reused across editions—resulting in a 26% reduction in ticket and badge printing costs. The "Clean Plate Campaign" has resulted in a 100% adoption of biodegradable or recyclable tableware and takeaway bags, contributing to a 12% decrease in catering expenses. Through on-site publicity and online outreach, we have encouraged green travel and eco-conscious Expo participation.
Green is a symbol of vitality. We will deepen our commitment to low-carbon practices, explore innovative exhibition models, and offer "CISCE solutions" for the green transformation of the MICE industry—thereby injecting greater vitality into a greener CISCE.
Q6: Reporter from Science and Technology Daily
This year's Expo features an Innovation Chain section within the Advanced Manufacturing Chain exhibition area. How is the exhibition going?
Yang Xiaojun, Director of the CCPIT Department of Industry Promotion
Thank you for your question and for your interest in the debut of the Innovation Chain section. It has exceeded our expectations at the 3rd CISCE. Seeing that bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial application is a key step in driving technological innovation, we designed this section upon a comprehensive process encompassing IP validation, technology incubation, and industrialization. By promoting the transformation of innovation resources from "bookshelves" to "store shelves", this section has fostered the seamless integration of innovation and industry chains, ensuring that brilliant ideas born in laboratories become “golden keys” unlocking industrial growth.
First, the current policies target pain points in the commercialization of innovations and have therefore received an enthusiastic response. The China National Intellectual Property Administration unveiled, for the first time, a patent revitalization system for universities and research institutes. This system encompasses 680,000 existing patents from over 2,700 entities nationwide, providing streamlined access to detailed information on high-value patents and potential collaboration opportunities. It is accelerating the transfer of patented technologies from labs to markets. Many exhibitors and trade visitors lined up to explore the system, while a number of domestic and international delegations expressed strong interest in cooperation. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's First Electronics Laboratory presented an integrated application and promotion system for its new technology-based products. Designed to offer enterprises solutions for technological application, the system effectively tackles challenges in technology transfer (e.g. applicability and ease of use). Over 100 institutes, manufacturers, and inspection agencies participated in on-site matchmaking and negotiations.
Second, notable progress has been made in the commercialization of innovations. The China Technology Exchange, Shanghai Technology Exchange, and SZSE Technology Exchange Center showcased their efficient technology trading systems and strong performance records. They addressed the diverse needs of enterprises in areas such as technical evaluation, IP validation, and transaction facilitation, securing preliminary cooperation agreements with nearly 100 companies and institutions. Notably, the Shanghai Technology Exchange engaged in negotiations with multiple parties, achieving a 21% week-over-week increase in the value of confirmed technology transfers.
Third, the overall benefits are substantial. The Innovation Chain section effectively facilitated collaboration among government agencies, international organizations, research institutions, trading platforms, technology parks, and hi-tech enterprises, streamlining the innovation ecosystem and aligning diverse stakeholders towards shared goals. The Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences presented its liquid hydrogen technology, which addresses challenges in storage and transportation along the hydrogen industry chain. This attracted strong interest from institutions in countries such as Argentina and Belarus, and various regional government agencies. The World Intellectual Property Organization delivered a comprehensive presentation on its international trademark registration and patent application services, forging broad connections with institutions across multiple regions. Several exhibitors highlighted critical processes in technology transfer. For instance, Ketian New Material reached preliminary cooperation agreements with more than 40 companies and institutions. These examples go beyond showcasing achievements—they demonstrate actionable pathways for accelerating the transition of patented technologies from labs into industry chain.
Although the CISCE is coming to a close, the momentum behind the integrated development of technological and industrial innovation remains strong. Moving forward, CCPIT will promote the deep integration and mutual reinforcement of the innovation, industry, capital, and talent chains, ensuring that the innovation chain serves as a true engine for enterprise growth.
Q7: Reporter from China National Radio
It was mentioned that this year's Expo drew more visitors than before. Could you please tell us how the Organizer ensured that the supporting services met the increased demand?
Lin Shunjie, Chairman of China International Exhibition Center Group Limited
Thank you for your question. As a world-class international Expo, the CISCE requires equally exceptional supporting services. Drawing on the experience of the past two editions and incorporating feedback from various stakeholders, we implemented comprehensive upgrades across all service areas—including dining, accommodation, utilities, and transportation. Throughout the event, we held daily internal coordination meetings to promptly address feedback and concerns from all sides, aware that there is no finish line in the pursuit of excellence—only mile markers. With dedication and care, we endeavored to deliver services that resonate with both domestic and international visitors.
First, policy support is more responsive. Thanks to the strong backing of relevant government agencies, this year's exhibitors reported smoother customs clearance and more efficient information verification across the board. The State Administration for Market Regulation has provided policy support for the Expo for three consecutive years. Beijing Customs has introduced 14 facilitation measures for the 3rd CISCE and established a booth to deliver streamlined services. Likewise, the China National Intellectual Property Administration set up a booth to offer easily accessible IP-related assistance to exhibitors.
Second, on-site services are more thoughtful. Exhibitors and trade visitors remain the core targets of our services. We provided one-on-one concierge-style support, tailored venue tour routes, and designated liaison officers for each visiting delegation, ensuring the highest level of comfort and satisfaction. Measures such as combining physical and digital badges and expediting credential processing significantly improved registration efficiency. In response to exhibitor needs and real-time demands, we established multiple temporary booths to foster broader participation across the global industry chain. To ensure seamless connectivity, we partnered with Qualcomm and China Unicom Beijing to deploy 5G-A high-speed network services, delivering robust performance for digital and intelligent applications.
Third, logistics services are more reliable. We brought in a range of well-known restaurant chains to enhance meal quality, and scientifically designed dining and rest areas. In accordance with the guidelines and contingency plans for summer exhibitions, we have strengthened food safety management for catering service providers. To help visitors stay cool, drinking stations were installed throughout the exhibition halls, with herbal cooling remedies such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui readily available. In addition, first aid stations were set up with ambulances on standby, and green channels were opened at medical facilities including Beijing Friendship Hospital Shunyi Branch and Beijing Airport Hospital, ensuring the Expo runs in a safe and orderly manner.
Fourth, accommodation and transportation are more comfortable. A wider selection of hotels was made available, with details on nearly 30 options publicly released and 24/7 booking services offered. During the Expo, multiple reception counters were established at both Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport. Shuttle buses ran between the Expo venues and hotels, ensuring safe and seamless transportation for all participants.
Fifth, cultural and creative experiences are more engaging. To enhance visitors' experiences and deepen their connection with the CISCE, themed elements—such as the mascot "Linky"—were integrated throughout the exhibition halls. Linky has captured the hearts of both domestic and international guests; with its adorkable, LABUBU-like charm, Linky perfectly reflects the Expo's international character, tech-savviness, and futuristic vision. Cultural and creative merchandise featuring Linky—including plush toys, fridge magnets, keychains, scarves, and umbrellas—have seen strong demand. Particularly popular during the sweltering summer days, the Linky-themed ice cream has become a fan favorite. We hope this small mascot delivers big inspiration to all.
Last but not least, I would like to highlight our volunteers, who brought vibrant energy to the CISCE. This year, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League mobilized over 400 volunteers from more than 10 universities across the city to provide on-site support in multiple languages, including English, French, and Spanish, for both domestic and international exhibitors and visitors. Yesterday afternoon, CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin joined the volunteers for a lively group birthday celebration. The CISCE serves as a bridge between the post-2000 generation of volunteers and the wider world, granting them a front-row seat to global economic trends, opportunities to engage with peers from around the world, and a platform to demonstrate the ideals, sense of responsibility, perseverance, and resolve that define China's youth in the new era. It vividly showcases their vitality and talents, which are instrumental in China's modernization journey.
Q8: Reporter from CCTV-4
From low-carbon production to digital and smart empowerment, the Expo reflects the dynamism of industry and supply chains across various scenarios. Could you tell us how the 3rd CISCE showcases new trends in the evolution of these chains?
Yang Xiaojun, Director of the CCPIT Department of Industry Promotion
Thank you for your question. This year, "CISCE partners" from around the world showcased their latest achievements in win-win cooperation. The electrification wave sweeping through the intelligent vehicle supply chain converges with the digital transformation of the green agriculture chain, while the low-carbon revolution in clean energy is deeply intertwined with the intelligent upgrade of the digital technology chain. These intersections vividly reflect the global shift towards digital intelligence as well as the green transformation across industry and supply chains. A quick tour of themed booths unmistakably affirms this trend. Allow me to share a few themes that left a particularly strong impression on me.
First, "Digital Connectivity, Win-win Ecosystem". Digital technology and the digital economy are at the forefront of global technological and industrial revolutions, profoundly reshaping productivity and supply chain dynamics worldwide. The CISCE is not simply a collection of high-tech exhibits; it is a comprehensive platform that highlights how digital innovation is empowering and upgrading traditional industry chains. At the Expo, numerous companies unveiled digital products and solutions, collectively exploring the future of a digitalized supply chain. For instance, Siemens demonstrated its digital twin technology, which enables virtual simulation and testing of equipment—offering a vivid depiction of interactions between the physical and digital worlds. Qualcomm, together with Chinese partners along the supply chain, introduced a suite of terminals equipped with 5G-A capabilities, tracing the evolution from 3G and 4G into the new era of 5G-A. Many exhibitors said that digital transformation is no longer optional—it is a race against time. In this context, the CISCE acts as a catalyst for enterprises determined to stay ahead of the curve.
Second, "Full-Stack AI: Connecting the World". AI is evolving at an accelerated pace, with major breakthroughs emerging weekly. Numerous exhibitors unveiled cutting-edge products at the Expo, including hybrid AI systems, AI-assisted surgical robots, LLMs for mining, and intelligent bionic hands. Showcased through scenario-based demonstrations, these products vividly illustrated how AI is empowering a wide range of industries. More than 20 enterprises from Hubei collaborated to present the humanoid robot industry chain, making their pavilion one of the most visited and talked-about attractions at the 3rd CISCE. At Intel's booth, a full suite of personal computers from Lenovo, Honor, Xiaomi, and others was on display, highlighting five key AI application domains: knowledge, office productivity, entertainment, creative work, and verticals. As many visitors noted, AI is igniting a new industrial revolution—one that the CISCE is urging all stakeholders to embrace.
Third, "Greener Solutions for a Better Future". Amid accelerating global climate action and the drive towards net-zero emissions, the construction of low-carbon industry and supply chains has become an urgent priority. The 3rd CISCE showcased a suite of green technologies, including new-energy vehicles capable of pivoting in place, next-generation super methanol-electric hybrid systems, and environmentally friendly operating rooms. Zero-carbon milk powder, PV panels, and yogurt further reflected the vitality of eco-conscious products. Multinational corporations such as Charoen Pokphand and Yara International spotlighted their successful collaborations with Chinese supply chain partners to promote low-carbon development across the globe. Financial institutions—including the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Bank of Beijing, and Singapore's UOB—jointly demonstrated the strategic value of green finance within the supply chain ecosystem. Many trade visitors noted that the CISCE offered a vivid portrayal of how green development could be practically achieved, and that sustainability is now a pillar of corporate competitiveness.
Notably, over 90% of new product launches at this year’s Expo were centered on AI and digitalization. Across various meetings and events, leaders from the government, industries, and academia compared notes on key issues such as green development, the digital economy, and intelligent manufacturing, which led to the adoption of numerous digital and sustainable solutions. The clean energy supply chain session alone drew more than 500 attendees, filling the venue to capacity. Participants widely recognized that the CISCE serves not only as a platform for showcasing current achievements but also as a bellwether of future trends.
