On November 26, 2024, the Second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) opened in Beijing, China. Under the theme “Connecting the World for a Shared Future,” representatives from business communities around the world engaged in extensive discussions on international cooperation in industrial and supply chains. These discussions spanned advanced manufacturing, clean energy, smart vehicles, digital technology, healthy life, green agriculture, and supply chain services, leading to a series of consensuses. In this connection, we jointly present the following initiatives:
1. Promote Open Cooperation in Global Industrial and Supply Chains
We advocate for practicing true multilateralism, enhancing trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, opposing protectionism, and enhancing international industrial specialization and collaboration. We call for efforts to foster integrated development of industries, and to deepen integration of supply and demand, so as to maintain stable and unimpeded industrial and supply chains and strive for a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. We encourage synergies to build networks for industrial cooperation, optimize and upgrade the industrial and supply chains, and achieve mutually reinforcing industrial growth, shared benefit, and collective development. This will boost sustainable economic growth and deliver tangible benefits to people worldwide.
2. Advance Digital Connectivity
Keeping abreast of technological and industrial advancements, we advocate for better integrating the real economy with the digital economy, and cultivating new quality productive forces. We encourage the transfer and application of digital technologies, to fully tap the potential of the digital economy and cross-border e-commerce, and actively explore and support the industrial application of artificial intelligence. We call for developing high-value industrial and supply chains, enhancing digital capabilities and skills for the people, bridging the digital divide, and building up an inclusive digital economy ecosystem, so as to enable the upgrade and elevation of industrial and supply chains.
3. Boost Green and Low-Carbon Development
We advocate for expediting green innovation and the application of advanced green technologies, expanding partnerships in green industries, clean energy, and sustainable mining, while building a low-carbon circular economic system. We encourage efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, advance innovation in health technology, and increase the use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass. We call for the development of low-carbon materials, processes, and technologies, in a bid to improve energy efficiency, minimize carbon footprints, and promote green development through the entire industrial chain. By doing so, we aim to increase the “green component” of our cooperation and upgrade the quality of our green development.
4. Improve Industrial and Supply Chain Services
We advocate for accelerating development of international logistics systems, and urge governments to enhance cooperation in port and transportation logistics, expand multimodal transport networks, advance the digitalization and green transformation of logistics, and build intelligent logistics networks. We call for stronger alignment in technical standards and the establishment of inclusive international mechanisms, with a view to setting up widely accepted norms and standards. We encourage efforts to strengthen financial services tailored to industrial and supply chains and foster industrial investment collaboration, so as to drive forward integrated development across global industrial and supply chains.
5. Harness the Unique Role of the Business Community
We encourage the global business community to leverage platforms such as CISCE to deepen practical cooperation and to build common understanding and mutual trust among nations. Trade and investment promotion organizations, along with business associations, should act as bridges to build high-quality platforms for economic collaboration. By supporting enterprises in navigating diverse environments and engaging at different levels of innovation and value chains, we should foster a fair, transparent, stable, and predictable business environment, and contribute significantly to the resilience, efficiency and stability of global industrial and supply chains while advancing global economic growth.
We invite business communities from more countries to join this initiative and collaborate in building a secure, stable, efficient, open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial global industrial and supply chain system. Let us work together for a better world.
