The 16th Meeting of International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing (IBLAC) was held from March 21 to 22 at the Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Center in Huairou District. Beijing’s Party Chief Yin Li and Deputy Party Chief and Mayor Yin Yong met with top leaders from 16 Fortune 500 multinational corporations and renowned institutions. Yin Yong chaired the IBLAC roundtable, where he engaged deeply with international business leaders on two topics: “Enhancing Economic Momentum Through High-standard International Cooperation” and “Building Livable Smart Cities Through Green and Sustainable Practices”. High-level representatives from 36 IBLAC member entities attended the meeting.

At the IBLAC meeting, international business leaders shared advanced experience and constructive ideas on promoting technological innovation, developing the digital economy, facilitating international trade, optimizing the business environment, enhancing spending power, strengthening regional cooperation, boosting sustainable development, and improving urban environments. These efforts aimed to foster new productive forces and support Beijing’s high-level openness to the outside world.

In keeping with its positioning as a capital city of the new era, Beijing has been strengthening the functions of “four centers”, improving its “four services”, pressing ahead with the “five key projects”, and integrating into the new development paradigm. As a result, Beijing has made new progress in socioeconomic development. In 2023, the city’s GDP grew by 5.2%, reaching a total economic volume of RMB 4.4 trillion. Several indicators, including per capita GDP and water consumption per RMB 10,000 of GDP, maintained the highest standards among provincial-level regions nationwide, leading to constant increase in Beijing’s composite strength and international influence. At the IBLAC meeting, international business leaders praised the achievements of Beijing’s socioeconomic development, and expressed their high expectations for and confidence in the city’s future. They are eager to further unleash their strengths for Beijing’s development through the IBLAC platform, deepening and expanding cooperation for mutual benefits.

Founded in 1999, the IBLAC consists of top leaders from Fortune 500 multinational corporations and renowned institutions, with its Secretariat based at CCPIT Beijing. Currently, the IBLAC has 36 member entities. A total of 141 top leaders from 48 companies and institutions served as its advisors. The IBLAC is an important initiative for Beijing to draw on advanced international experience and promote high-quality development. It also helps multinational corporations get a better understanding of Beijing and engage in pragmatic exchanges and cooperation locally. Additionally, it serves as a major platform for sharing Beijing’s stories and enhancing the city’s global reputation.
