As the sole city in China boasting two national-level airport economic demonstration zones, Beijing is promoting the high-quality development of dual airport economic zones based on the two international aviation hubs: Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport. These airport economic zones stand as pivotal platforms for implementing Beijing’s “Two Zones” policy. Leveraging CCPIT Beijing's unique strengths in “connecting government and enterprises, integrating domestic and international markets, and promoting matchmaking between supply and demand”, the focus remains on developing Beijing into “Four Centers” and an international consumption bridgehead centered on the city’s two aviation hubs. Capitalizing on opportunities arising from Saudi Arabia’s diversified investment and civil aviation reform, the aim is to develop platforms for Beijing enterprises to expand globally, attract international high-end elements, and draw more projects into Beijing, in a bid to facilitate the internationalization of Beijing’s modern aviation industry and promote the civil aviation industry chain towards global high-end of value chains.
On February 20, CCPIT Beijing organized the initiative “Saudi Aviation Enterprises Enter Airport City”, as part of the series “Connect the World, Invest in Beijing and Share the Future”. Over 40 Saudi representatives from the General Authority of Civil Aviation, MATARAT Holding and Riyadh Airports Company visited Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone, Beijing Daxing International Airport, and Comprehensive Bonded Zone. They had exchanges on how to showcase the favorable business environment and investment potential through industries with distinctive local features within the airport economic zones and attract the international resources, and how to attract strategic and leading major industrial projects with driving force through industrial chain cooperation to advance the development and construction of the airport economic zones.
On the afternoon of February 21, CCPIT Beijing, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, and the Saudi-Chinese Business Council co-organized “Beijing-Saudi Airport Economy Roundtable” at Pan Pacific Beijing. The Roundtable was attended by Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, Sima Hong, Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government, and Ali Othman, Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to China. More than 60 Saudi entrepreneurs from Saudia Airlines, Riyadh Airports Company, and MATARAT Holding had in-depth discussions with more than 70 Beijing enterprises on topics such as low-altitude economy, general aviation, aviation logistics, aircraft maintenance, and autonomous driving.
To further solidify the consensus and outcomes of the Roundtable and in response to the demands of Saudi enterprises, the executive vice president of MATARAT Holding and 8 other entrepreneurs engaged in high-level dialogues with Capital Airports Holdings Co., Ltd., China Airport Construction Group Corporation and NUCTECH on February 22. This facilitated a cooperation platform and opportunities for both sides, resulting in several cooperation intentions and consensuses. CCPIT Beijing will follow up on these outcomes and organize Beijing business delegations to Saudi Arabia for in-depth negotiations, helping enterprises secure orders and expand into the international market, thereby facilitating a promising start in the trade promotion of Beijing.
Saudi Arabia and Beijing, with their economies highly complementary, possess significant cooperation potential. Positioned as a crucial hub in the Middle East along “Belt and Road” and a window of trade for Asia, Africa and Europe, Saudi Arabia plays an active role in promoting the global extension of Beijing’s industrial and value chain. Moving forward, CCPIT Beijing will strengthen collaboration with relevant Saudi departments and trade promotion agencies, and establish more high-quality platforms for deepening economic, trade and cultural exchanges between the two sides, to bolster Beijing’s higher-level opening-up, foster a new development paradigm, and advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.
