On the morning of July 25, CCPIT Beijing held its mid-year work meeting for 2023. The conference communicated the spirit of the city’s mid-year work conference, reported CCPIT Beijing’s progress during the first half of the year, and laid out plans for the second half. Guo Huaigang, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Chairman of CCPIT Beijing, chaired the addressed the meeting. Li Meng and Liu Wenjie from the Sixth Itinerant Guidance Group for Thematic Education of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee were also present to provide guidance.
In line with Party Chief Yin Li’s directives at Beijing’s mid-year work conference, the meeting highlighted the importance of making steady progress and laying down comprehensive plans to effectively execute the key tasks of CCPIT Beijing and achieve high-quality development.
The meeting pointed out that since the beginning of 2023, CCPIT Beijing has focused on the capital city’s development in the new era and adhered to the “345” work framework. Leveraging its bridging role, CCPIT Beijing has advanced step by step in the following aspects: First, through the thematic education campaign, CCPIT Beijing has motivated Party members and cadres to reinforce their ideals and beliefs. This has led to increased vigor in conducting investigations and research and applying the findings. Second, CCPIT Beijing has implemented the strategy for coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. By leveraging the region’s strengths, it has promoted international economic and trade exchanges and enhanced cooperation among local trade promotion agencies. Third, CCPIT Beijing has enhanced its support and publicity for the construction of the “two zones”, and provided tailor-made services for key parks. Fourth, CCPIT Beijing has successfully held three major economic and trade events: the Exhibition of ZGC Forum (CHITEC), the Beijing International Investment Cooperation Seminar and Conference, and the Mid-Term Session of the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing. Fifth, CCPIT Beijing has expanded its circle of friends in Latin America and the Middle East, among other regions. Sixth, CCPIT Beijing has improved its services for enterprises in five ways: resuming economic and trade delegations, leveraging the mechanisms for “service package” and foreign investor service task force, promoting exchanges and cooperation through international conventions and exhibitions, expanding international commercial legal services, and promoting trade facilitation. Seventh, CCPIT Beijing has established five distinctive brands, namely the “home of members of Beijing Chamber of International Commerce”, “application-oriented think tank for international economic and trade”, “international economic and trade lecture for the capital city”, CCPIT Beijing Reference News, and “smart CCPIT Beijing”. Eighth, CCPIT Beijing has been contributing to the joint construction of a trade promotion framework.
The meeting highlighted six priorities for the second half of the year: First, deepen the thematic education campaign and fortify the Party’s theoretical innovation by earnestly engaging in theoretical learning, research, inspection, and rectification. Second, focus on five major events and one platform: the 16th China-LAC Business Summit, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the Middle East Investment and Trade Promotion Meeting during the China International Fair for Trade in Services, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei supply chain investment promotion during the China International Supply Chain Expo, the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair, and the high-level consulting and governance support platform for the International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing. Third, vigorously promote trade and investment, and coordinate the implementation of the “five initiatives”. Carry out the 20 measures in five dimensions as outlined in the Implementation Plans of CCPIT Beijing for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development, build a strong network of friendly associations and chambers of commerce, leverage the mechanisms for “service package” and foreign investor service task force, and upgrade certification and commercial legal services. Fourth, bolster the foundation for trade promotion through proactive exploration and innovation. Speed up the transformation and development of the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce while ensuring smooth leadership transition. Enhance the construction of the application-oriented think tank for international economic and trade to elevate its influence. Fifth, balance development with security and conscientiously safeguard the “field of responsibility”. Hold fast to national security and ideology, and ensure workplace safety and confidentiality at every level to eliminate vulnerabilities. Sixth, unwaveringly advance comprehensive and stringent Party governance, further integrate Party building with business development, and foster a team of trade promotion personnel who are politically sound and proficient.
