On the afternoon of February 21, CCPIT Beijing and the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (ILAS of CASS) signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides agreed to effectively combine the high-end think tank resources of ILAS with the international trade and investment promotion mechanisms of CCPIT Beijing through coordination and collaboration. They also reached agreement on conducting in-depth research on economic and trade cooperation between China and Latin America to well organize the 16th China-LAC Business Summit, and to contribute to the high-level opening-up of Beijing and the acceleration of its development as a center of international exchanges. Guo Huaigang, Chairman of CCPIT Beijing, and Chai Yu, general director of ILAS, signed the agreement. Also in attendance were Director Yang Zhimin and Deputy Director Lu Siheng of the Regional Cooperation Office of ILAS, vice chairman Tang Haijiao, vice chairwoman Wu Lanlan as well as vice chairman Zhang Xiufeng of CCPIT Beijing, and relevant personnel from both sides. After the signing ceremony, Chai Yu delivered a keynote speech titled “The Situation in Latin America and Outlook on Sino-Latin America Cooperation” for CCPIT Beijing, and answered questions covering the development trend of economic and trade relations, precautions for Chinese companies entering the Latin American market, and bilateral legal cooperation issues.
