Azerbaijan's parliament ratified an agreement with China establishing a mutual visa-free travel regime for holders of ordinary passports, Sputnik Azerbaijan reported.
Lawmakers approved the agreement in a single reading during a plenary session of the Milli Majlis (the parliament of Azerbaijan). The pact allows citizens of both countries to travel without a visa for stays of up to 30 days per visit, and no more than 90 days within a 180-day period.
The visa exemption applies only to short-term visits. Travelers planning to stay longer than 30 days, or seeking residence, employment, education, or work in media and other regulated fields, must obtain a visa and the appropriate permits in advance.
Either country may suspend the agreement partially or entirely on grounds of national security, public order, or public health, with prior diplomatic notification.
The agreement was signed late April by the two countries' foreign ministers in Beijing during a ceremony attended by the heads of state of China and Azerbaijan.
