Beijing Gehua Cultural Development Group in cooperation with its subsidiary Beijing Design Week Co., Ltd. is shaping an industrialization-focused system for the Beijing Design Week. According to Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Design Week is of great significance to the city’s overall development at cultural and scientific level. Relying on diverse venue resources, the approach to implementing park building for Beijing Design Week is based on the “one zone with various parks” model proven to be effective in the case of Zhongguancun Science Park.
Their efforts will unfold in three modules: first, Beijing Design Week Industrial Park; second, Beijing Design Week Industrial Fund; third, Beijing Design Week Exchange Platform.
The first module: Beijing Design Week Industrial Park under the theme of design, business and expertise is going to boast various functions including collection exhibition, new design material showcasing, order taking, launch of new designs, prototype 3D printing, designer customization and convergence of design institutions. The Park is set to become Beijing’s new landmark for industrial design and cultural creativity, facilitating regional conglomeration of high-end industries.
The second module: Beijing Design Week Industrial Fund. 1. Its aim: the Industrial Fund is designed to be the first capital fund for design industry in China’s mainland. 2. Its establishment: the Industrial Fund under the principle of government overseeing, state-owned enterprise taking the lead and private sector making investment is planned to be established with qualified private capital selected by Beijing Design Week Co., Ltd. together with financial institutions in Beijing. 3 Its operation: the Fund supported by Beijing Design Week resources in all aspects is going to focus on investment for design-driven areas to form a strong synergy with cultural creativity initiatives at city, business and community level, revitalizing and adding value to traditional industries. 4. Its investment: investment focuses on operation of design parks and their business, high-growth design enterprises and studios, design products with market potential as well as design-related cross-industry investment.
The third module: Beijing Design Week Exchange Platform. 1. Traded items: mainly include design elements, design copyrights and intellectual property rights. 2. Users: providing a market to share and trade design items for professional designers, producers, brokers and financial institutions, serving as a bridge between the vision of “City of Design” and “Cultural Creativity Hub” initiative. 3. Platform development: a design elements exchange platform penetrating the entire value chain of design industry will be formed by aligning systematically existing platforms including Beijing Culture Equity Exchange, ZBJ. com, VCG.com and LKK Group with initial agreement in place.
