Located southwest of Sichuan Basin and at the foot of Emei Mountain, the 3,000-year-old city of Leshan, originally known as Jiazhou, is one of China’s 99 “famous historical and cultural cities” and 44 “open cities”. It is accessible by five expressways, namely Chengdu-Leshan, Leshan-Yibin, Leshan-Ya’an, Leshan-Zigong, and Renshou-Muchuan-Xinshi (Renshou-Jingyan Section), as well as 15 national and provincial highways, i.e. G213, G245, G348, 103, 213, 215, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 401, 428, 429 and 430. It has been connected by Chengdu-Kunming and Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan Railways, and will be connected by Chengdu-Guiyang, Chengdu-Kunming (Double-track) and Lianjie-Leshan Railways. Leshan’s 976km waterway, including the 293km graded channels, are being used by cargo ships of 101,200 tons and passenger ships/ferries of 9,187 seats. The city will soon have an airport.
Currently, the city proper of Leshan does not have a specialized rehabilitation hospital; rehabilitation services can be accessed only at general medical institutions. As the city’s population is set to hit the one-million threshold, it is about time that high-end, specialized rehabilitation hospitals were built. Leshan is attracting social capital and rationally allocating healthcare resources to rehabilitation and eldercare, among other medical services.
With a floor area of 100mu and a construction area of 60,000m2, the project consists of an out-patient complex, an in-patient building, a rehabilitation and eldercare center, accessory structures and underground parking facilities.
