Prices of Farm Produce Drop while those of Means of Production Rise Slightly

According to the monitoring by MOFCOM, the prices of major farm produce in 36 large and medium-sized cities dropped last week (February 23-March 1) and those of means of production rose slightly.

The average wholesale price of 18 vegetables was down 1.8% compared with the previous week, leading by the prices of such fruits and vegetables as cucumber, eggplant and tomato with an increase of 11.3%, 9.8% and 4.6% week on week respectively. The prices of eggs and chicken went down 1.3% and 0.6% compared with the previous week. The prices of meat went up and down, with the prices of pork and beef down 0.9% and 0.5% respectively compared with the previous week and the prices of mutton up 1.1% week on week. The prices of rapeseed oil and peanut oil were up 0.4% and 0.1% respectively week on week. The price of grain was up slightly, with the price of rice remaining the same, and that of flour up 0.3% week on week. The prices of aquatic products rose 0.4%, leading by the prices of carp, large hairtail and crucian, up 1.7%, 1.7% and 1.5% respectively.

The prices of chemical fertilizers rose 0.3%, with the prices of kalium chloratum，DAP, NPK and urea up 0.65, 0.5%, 0.2% and 0.1% respectively. The basic chemical raw materials went up 0.3%, with the prices of methyl alcohol, and sodium carbonate up 2.4% and 0.1% respectively. The prices of non-ferrous metal went up 0.3%, with the prices of copper up 1%, and lead, zinc, nickel, aluminum and tin down 0.7%, 0.5%, 0.4%, 0.1% and 0.1% respectively. The prices of rubber remained the same as that of the previous week, with the prices of natural rubber up 0.1% while synthetic rubber down 0.2%. The prices of coal remained steady, with the prices of blind coal up 0.1%, steam coal remaining the same and coking coal down 0.3%. The price of steel was down 0.35%, with the prices of equal leg angle and box iron down 0.6% and 0.5% respectively.
