2021 China - Pakistan Pump & Valve Industry Cross-border Investment Forum And 2021 China (Wenzhou) Int’l Pump & Valve Fair Promotion Conference to Embassies opened at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Beijing on the afternoon of June 28, with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Beijing, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing) and CCPIT Wenzhou as co-organizers. The event was addressed by Ahmed Farooq, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, Zhu Jialiang, Vice Chairman of CCPIT Beijing, Badar U Zaman, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, Zhu Qianji, Member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and second-level Consultant of CCPIT Wenzhou, with the attendance of Adama Compaore, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to China, as well as commercial representatives from a dozen of consulates and representatives from a dozen of industry associations and enterprises.
Vice Chairman Zhu Jialiang had in-depth exchanges with Deputy Chief of Mission Ahmed Farooq and Commercial Counsellor Badar U Zaman on the economic and trade development of China and Pakistan in the post-epidemic era before the forum opened. Ahmed Farooq highly recognized the pragmatic economic and trade cooperation between China and Pakistan since the establishment of diplomatic relations, especially the joint development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative, which supports the smooth and orderly operation of Pakistan’s economy and society, and facilitates its economic recovery. He also congratulated the 70th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations and said that the flower of China-Pakistan friendship will always be in full bloom. Vice Chairman Zhu Jialiang said that this year not only marks the 70th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations, but also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Thus, this year bears the significance of a milestone for two sides. He expected the economic and trade institutions of the two countries will take this event as an opportunity to give full play to their respective advantages on resources and deepen the cooperation under the established mechanisms, in bid to jointly contribute to the economy and trade of two countries in the post-epidemic era.
Ahmed Farooq said in his speech that China and Pakistan have a long history of economic and trade exchanges and there is a solid foundation for the friendship between the people of two countries. China is Pakistan’s most important trading partner, and the economy and trade volume between two countries has grown rapidly in the past decade. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations, China and Pakistan will adhere to the principles of mutual understanding, mutual respect and common prosperity, and jointly build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in accordance with the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement. This will usher in a new chapter in China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation and relations, and set a new model of international cooperation.
Vice Chairman Zhu Jialiang detailed the achievements and prospects of China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation. He said that the “iron-clad friendship” grows stronger over time, and the mutual trust between countries have been consolidated and bilateral cooperation deepened through the test of COVID-19. At the same time, the economic and trade institutions of the two countries have made unremitting efforts to promote bilateral trade exchanges and cooperation, which injects strong impetus into the China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation with promising prospects. Zhu Jialing gave a briefing on the measures taken by the Beijing Municipal Government to improve the business environment, taking the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone as an example. He said that Beijing will put in place favourable business policies, and continue to develop a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized opening-up system. He expressed his belief that an optimized business environment will pave the way towards a deepened China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation.
Zhu Qianji gave a detailed introduction on Wenzhou’s advantages on economic and trade development. He said that Wenzhou is a “capital for opening up” and a “place for start-ups”. With a developed non-governmental trade and numerous Wenzhou and overseas Chinese merchants, Wenzhou is full of opportunities for economic and trade cooperation. Based on the pillar industries such as electrical appliances, pump and valve, clothing and shoe leather, Wenzhou is committed to promoting the two-way investment and contributing to the bilateral trade between China and Pakistan.
Badar U Zaman introduced the investment environment and development space for Pakistan’s economy and trade. He said that China and Pakistan have carried out in-depth cooperation in politics, economy, strategy and other aspects over the past 70 years, and forged a bilateral relation that is “higher than mountains, deeper than oceans, and sweeter than honey”. At the same time, the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Belt and Road Initiative projects have become the main driving force of Pakistan’s economic development, facilitating an average annual economic growth rate of 5%. Pump and valve industry is quite important in supporting the operation of various fields in Pakistan. This event serves as a good platform for the bilateral cooperation in this industry.
Dr Muhammad Abbas, export manager from Jinggong Valve Group, Wang Lu from China Road and Bridge Corporation, Shaikh Muhammad Shariq from Beijing Representative Office of National Bank of Pakistan, and Sun Lili, Secretary General of Economic & Commercial Counselors Alliance in China (ECCAC), gave remarks and made promotions on pump and valve industry.
Li Pige, Donnor Exhibition Project Director of pump and valve gave a briefing on the project overview, positioning plan, highlights and preparation of the first China (Wenzhou) International Pump & Valve Fair in 2021. The signing ceremony for the co-sponsors and strategic partners of this fair was held at the site.
This event gives the participants an opportunity to learn more about Pakistan’s investment and business environment and related policies, and provides them a platform for active exchanges and cooperation. It will be a bridge for the pragmatic cooperation in pump and valve between the enterprises of two countries.
