The 21st CIFIT deepens the integration of exhibitions and negotiations

The first preparatory work meeting for the 21st China International Fair for Investment &Trade (CIFIT ) was held in Beijing. According to this preparatory work meeting, the 21st China International Investment and Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as “CIFIT”) hosted by the Ministry of Commerce will be held in Xiamen from September 8th to 11th.

As one of the important exhibitions held by the Ministry of Commerce this year, this year’s CIFIT will take “New Opportunities for International Investment under New Development Patterns” as its theme, and focus on the “14th Five-Year Plan”, the joint programs under the “Belt and Road Initiative” , and the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution, multilateral and bilateral regional cooperation, center on investment promotion, strengthen confidence in investment cooperation, implement “high-quality introduction, high-level going out”, and strive to develop a new pattern of win-win cooperation.

“This CIFIT will continue to adhere to the positioning of a ‘two-way investment promotion platform, an authoritative information release platform, and a platform for investment trend discussion’ to offer an ‘international, professional, and branded’ fair, and serve to build a new development pattern. Meanwhile, we must pay attention to the role of digital empowerment, strive to explore effective modes of online exhibitions, and optimize and update the platform of ‘Online CIFIT’.” Wang Shouwen, Executive Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee of the CIFIT, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative of International Trade Negotiations, said that the 21st CIFIT is an important platform for showcasing the country’s achievements in COVID-19 prevention and control and economic and social development and for promoting global cooperation. It is also part of the actions to implement the “stability on six key fronts” and “security in six key areas” strategies of central government.

Lin Jian, the Vice Mayor of Xiamen Municipal People’s Government, said that this year’s CIFIT offers a rare opportunity and is of great significance for Xiamen. As the host, Xiamen will work hard to improve the effectiveness of the fair, actively plan high-end forums, invite heavy-weight guests, showcase key industries, deepen the integration of exhibitions and negotiations, and explore new modes of online and offline integration through meticulous, precise, and targeted services. We will strive to hold high-level events, high-quality exhibitions, and exchanges with high efficiency, attract high-end exhibitors and customers to participate in the exhibition, accelerate the implementation of capital for high-quality projects, so that all members can benefit from this platform of CIFIT, and effectively improve the satisfaction and sense of gain of members.

This CIFIT covers an area of 130,000 square meters, closely follows the national strategy, focusing on key industries, and highlighting investment themes. The overall layout of the 21st CIFIT will be further improved to include four areas – a central exhibition area, an investment promotion pavilion, an investment service pavilion, and a BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution pavilion. The current CIFIT has made the Philippines as the guest country of honor, and Indonesia is invited to be a guest country of honor as well.

Chen Haoying, Director-general of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition, explained that the Exhibition on New Industrial Revolution of BRICS will be held in the same hall as the CIFIT as 2021 is the first year for Xiamen to build the innovation base for the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution. The Exhibition will focus on new industries, technologies, and new business formats to serve economic cooperation between BRICS countries and showcase the latest achievements of BRICS cooperation in the industrial field.

This year’s CIFIT will focus on a range of hot topics such as the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution, the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). A series of parallel forums and special sessions will be held on two-way investment, digital economy, technological innovation, and financial services. Besides, the CIFIT will continue to deepen the concept of “precise matchmaking, targeted negotiation, and large platform”, focusing on investment negotiations, guiding project promotion and matchmaking negotiations in the exhibition area, and promoting the full combination of exhibition and negotiation, the organic and effective integration of forums, matchmaking and supporting activities to enhance the effectiveness of integration between the exhibition, negotiation and conference. Investment matchmaking meetings will be held in key industries of global attention such as the new generation of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, biotechnology, energy conservation and environmental protection, and digital economy to facilitate pragmatic and precise investment.

In order to catch up with the trend of smart exhibitions, this CIFIT will also use digital means and information technologies to empower the exhibition, providing personalized services for the exhibitioners, participants and members, and enhance the new experience and comprehensive effectiveness of exhibitions, negotiation and conferences.

The “cloud platform” continues to be optimized and upgraded, and service functions such as “cloud display”, “cloud matchmaking”, “cloud negotiation”, “cloud seminar”, and “cloud signing of agreement” have been improved, which will provide both online and offline investment promotion services for members, domestic and foreign governments, investment promotion institutions and enterprises to create a comprehensive, digital, and long-term “never ending investment promotion platform”.
