China Takes the Lead in Resuming Home Appliance and Electronics Exhibition

2021-4-6 10:55:01

From March 23 to 25, an important exhibition, Appliance and Electronics World Expo (AWE) was held in Shanghai.

The Expo, which was suspended for a year due to the Covid-19 outbreak, presented a grant event with almost 1,000 exhibitors spread across six halls, which cover an area of 150,000 square meters. AWE 2021 is the first large-scale offline exhibition of the kind since 2020 when the world’s three major home appliance and consumer electronics exhibitions (AWE of China, IFA of Germany and CES of the US) were postponed or held online, generating “China power” for the revival of the world economy.

Among the exhibitors, no one is more excited than a group of foreign brands that participated in the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) in the same location a few months ago. Recently, the first 160 exhibitors of the 4th CIIE were announced, including internationally renowned companies such as Panasonic, BSH, Karcher, Delonghi, Vaillant and Vorwerk.

“CIIE and AWE have become two of our most important professional exhibitions of the year. The return of the Expo this year will allow our R&D and sales staff to hear more voices directly from our customers, and we will be more prepared for the global debut of new products for the 4th CIIE,” said a manager of one of the enterprises.

Miji Electronics and Appliances is no stranger to CIIE. At the 3rd CIIE, Miji held the world premiere for the Star 3 Format electric cooker. Zhou Wenbing, general manager of Miji China, said: “At this year’s AWE, we showcased the concept machine of Miji Star 5 Power King, the latest generation of the Star 5 series electric cooker imported from Germany, and collected suggestions from the professional visitors on site, so that we can better prepare for its official debut at the 4th CIIE.”

Zha Sheng, general manager of Vorwerk China, another regular exhibitor of CIIE, said they brought an upgraded version of their smart tea machine for the Expo and are developing a combined multifunctional food processer with an IoT chip. “In the future, the machine will be able to command other machines to operate the next process, freeing people from the kitchen,” said Mr. Zha, “the combined food processer is intended to be premiered at the 4th CIIE, and we want to hear the customers’ voice at AWE.”

He also said that the AWE is the first exhibition to be resumed, which makes the company firm up its confidence in strengthening its presence in China.

Foreign Investment Law and Shanghai Regulations on Foreign Investment have come into effect, and we need to accelerate our transformation from a manufacturing company to a service-oriented company. We hope to build a sharing platform for our Thermomix and Temial users to upload personalized recipes and tea art in the future, and users will be able to get paid for their creativity for sharing such contents. In this exhibition and the 4th CIIE, we intend to communicate deeply with the government and consumers to facilitate the transformation of the company.” He said.
