On the sidelines of the ZGC Forum, the 23rd China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC 2020) will take place from September 17th to 20th. This Expo is hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), the State Intellectual Property Office, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and organized by CCPIT Beijing.
As part of the ZGC Forum, the 2020 CHITEC will share the Forum’s theme “Cooperate to Make Innovations and Meet Challenges with Common Efforts” and comprise comprehensive activities, exhibitions, business talks, forums, and e-exhibitions.
Among them, comprehensive activities include a signing ceremony of sci-tech cooperation projects and “Witness the Development of Beijing through CHITEC” series events.
Featured exhibitions to be held in an area of 30,000 square meters in the China International Exhibition Center (Jing’anzhuang Hall) with 12 thematic exhibitions including Anti-COVID-19 Technology, Global Technologies, Cutting-edge Technology, Scientific Winter Olympics, Innovation Achievements of Beijing’s Hi-tech Industries, Fintech, Smart Education, Beijing’s Achievements in Integration and Development of Culture and Technology, Innovation Achievements of Technical Industry Zones, Achievements of Beijing’s Youth in Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Auto Technology and Sci-tech Innovations of Provinces, Municipalities and Districts.
Nine business talks are scheduled to be held, namely, the fifth China Digitization Conference, the Promotion of Technical Achievements and Business Cooperation Projects, the Conference on Investment and Financing Cooperation for Technical Projects, the Conference on Green Technology Innovation and Development, the Seminar on the Future of Digital Culture and Tourism Empowered by 5G Plus AI Technological Applications, the fifth Promotion Meeting for Trustworthy Agricultural and Technical Brands in Jing-Jin-Ji Cluster, the Promotion of Achievements in Integration of Innovation and Economy, the Promotion and Business Matchmaking Event for the High-Tech Industry in Hainan Free Trade Port, and the Promotion and Business Matchmaking Event for Developing Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Qinghai Through Technology. Beyond that, the China Financial Summit and the Blockchain Development Forum will be held.
E-exhibitions aim to display outstanding companies and their quality products and provide services like business matchmaking, thus creating a CHITEC that will never end.
By focusing on the theme and pooling quality resources, the 2020 CHITEC is designed to serve as a platform for international exchanges and cooperation with the following four characteristics.
1. Cutting-Edge Technology in Key Fields
Frontier technologies, including 5G telecommunications, industrial Internet, intelligent connected vehicles (ICV), biomedicine, AI, and cybersecurity, will be on display. Under the theme of “From Chip to Cloud, Empowering New Infrastructure”, Tsinghua Unigroup is set to present its latest achievements in chip and cloud network. Beijing Capital Highway Development Group will showcase nearly 50 technological innovations made by Beijing’s leading transportation companies. Beijing Subway will introduce how the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System is first applied to rail traffic. At the first-ever anti-coronavirus technology exhibition, a host of industrial giants, such as Yiling Pharmaceutical and Nuctech, are prepared to display online diagnosis and treatment system, intelligent cleaning and disinfecting robots, and other medical machinery dedicated to battle the virus, and show the progress made on vaccine development and anti-COVID-19 supplies.
2. The Building of the National Sci-Tech Innovation Center
Centering on high-tech industries and five new sectors (new types of infrastructure, scenario, consumption, opening-up, and services), Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology will lead over 30 companies, including Tong Ren Tang and Shuzhi AI, to showcase the progress made in building an industrial innovation center and an industrial system. Led by Zhongguancun Science City, a cluster of novel research institutes, listed tech companies, and rising and established tech firms are set to present their cutting-edge technologies. Huairou Science City will exhibit an array of world-leading, original scientific outcomes, like the large-scale scientific facility and platform, novel research institute, key and core technology incubator, and the commercialization of scientific results, in a bid to demonstrate innovation capacity and overall strength in basic research and interdisciplinary frontiers. Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area will give visitors a glimpse of the next-generation industries of electronic information technology, robotics and smart manufacturing, high-end automobile and smart NEV, biotechnology and health, and civil aviation technology, and allow them to experience Xloong’s VR technology, Xiaomi’s smart factory, and the light field interaction of Whyhow Information Technology, among others.
3. Integrated Development of Industries
To expedite the growth of the new economy, new types of business, and new models, innovations that integrate sci-tech with the Winter Olympics, culture, information, finance, and agriculture will be put on display. With the implementation of the Scientific Winter Olympics (2022) Action Plan as its core, the MST-hosted Scientific Winter Olympics exhibition is focused on carrying out major initiatives to live up to the Scientific Winter Olympics theme and ensuring demand for necessary technologies met. To this end, a range of high-tech solutions, innovations, demonstration projects, and initiatives to popularize winter sports and grow the sports industry that reflect China’s strength, will be shown. By stressing creative design products and services, digital content services, industrial innovation and cross-border integration, the Exhibition for Beijing’s Achievements in Integration and Development of Culture and Technology aims to tap the potential of the cultural industry and foster new edges. China Minsheng Banking Corp will take the tech gala as a platform to introduce its online service system for people’s livelihood, 5G mobile bank, open bank, remote bank, home automation, supply chain finance, distributed technology applications, and other innovative products, services, and financial machines and tools. This is how the bank promotes its corporate culture and financial services and supports financial inclusion by letting fintech stimulate the real economy.
4. Open Cooperation Across Regions
Based in Beijing, serving China and facing the whole world, the 2020 CHITEC is designed to set up a platform for coordinated innovation across regions and encourage the commercialization of major technological innovations and international technological transfer. Among the China offices of international organizations and multinational companies to be invited, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will present cutting-edge innovations in AI, the internet of things, smart city and energy conservation. The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) is prepared to demonstrate the role of engineering in solving conundrums faced by humans, rising to future challenges and achieving sustainable development goals. Hong Kong Trade Development Council will send renowned firms to the CHITEC for expanding cooperation. In addition, joining the event are 20 provinces, municipalities and districts including Tianjin, Hebei and Jilin, among which Hainan and Qinghai will hold promotion events for attracting investment from across the globe.
Preparations for the 2020 CHITEC are going smoothly. As of now, nine international organizations including UNIDO and WFEO, and more than 800 Chinese and foreign tech companies have signed up for the Expo.
