The 2019 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) and the Belt and Road Investment Congress will be held from September 8 to 11 in the southeastern Chinese city of Xiamen, Fujian Province.
Over 600 industry and commerce groups and 3,000 companies from more than 120 countries and regions are expected to participate in the fair, with a total of more than 100,000 businesspeople, CIFIT announced at a news conference on August 7 in Beijing.
The Republic of Serbia, the guest country of honor this year, will have an exhibition area of 800 square meters, showcasing the projects and companies from Serbia.
"We would like to improve the overall bilateral cooperation between Serbia and China under the strategic partnership between the two countries," Minister Counsellor of the Serbian Embassy in China Ivan Kandijas said at the conference.
Han Jingyi, Deputy Mayor of Xiamen and head of the organizing committee, said the 2019 CIFIT will focus on integrating the Belt and Road Initiative into its projects and activities.
An exhibition hall of over 5,000 square meters for potential investment opportunities in the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road countries has been established, according to Wang Qiongwen, head of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs.
Besides, the exhibition this year will feature promotion of global cooperation on industrial Internet. "Industrial Internet is an emerging industry in China's development," Wang said. "Chinese tech giants like Huawei and Tencent will display their latest technologies at CIFIT."
Over 90 forums and investment and exchange activities among multinational corporations will also be held during the fair. The United Nations and China's Ministry of Commerce will release reports concerning China's foreign investment.
Started in 1987, CIFIT began as a local trade and investment fair. Ten years later, it became a national event taken over by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the predecessor of the Ministry of Commerce, and was officially named CIFIT.
