The 2019 (18th) China Internet Conference sponsored by the Internet Society of China (“ISC”) is convened on July 9-11 at the China National Convention Center.
According to the organizing committee, the number of forums hosted during the event is unprecedented, including one for online gaming, the first of its kind. As this year marks the 25th anniversary of China’s connection to the Internet, the conference has particularly set up a thematic show to review the Internet development in China.
Highlight 1: 30 thematic forums, the most in history
The reporter learned, the conference will host 30 thematic forums, the most in its history, centered on such hot topics as 5G, IPv6, AI, fintech, Internet education, cyber security and governance, IPR protection, crackdown on Internet frauds, personal information and data protection and the development of Internet sites.
The “Forum on Digital Online Gaming and the Intelligent Economy”, the first of its kind, will be held, and a working committee for online gaming under the ISC established during the event. Then, experts and business representatives will discuss the relations between the development of the online gaming industry and the transformation of the Internet industry, and exchange ideas about the application and development of “eSports Plus”.
It should be noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Internet, as well as the 25th anniversary of China’s full connection to it. The conference will particularly set up a thematic show titled “A Review of China’s Connection to the Internet for 25 Years”, presenting in detail the development history of the Internet all over the world and in China.
Highlight 2: A gathering of industry dignitaries, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a founding father of the German Internet
The lineup of guests for this year’s conference remains compelling, just like the previous ones.
According to the organizing committee of the event, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union will send his congratulations via a video, expressing his wishes for the future of the industry.
During the event, over 100 experts and academicians will come onto the stage, talking about the great changes brought by cutting-edge technologies to the Internet, including Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the ISC; Hu Qiheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and first president of the ISC; Qian Hualin, a researcher at the Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences and an inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame; Stephen Wolff, chief scientist of Internet2 and an inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame; and Werner Zorn, an inductee of the Internet Hall of Fame and a founding father of the German Internet.
Highlight 3: The release of multiple heavyweight research results
The conference will continue to release heavyweight research results jointly with authoritative institutions.
During the event, a series of research reports will be released, including the 2019 Report on China’s Internet Development, Survey Report on the Barrier-free Construction of Website Information Nationwide, and 2019 Report on the Development of the Social E-Commerce Industry in China.
Moreover, the conference organizer will issue the White Paper on AI Risks in the 5G Age jointly with consultancies, analyzing AI-related security risks as the 5G era arrives; and the 2019 Analysis Report on Grey and Black Industry Chains of the Mobile Internet, in a fight against grey and black industry chains in cyberspace.
Highlight 4: A special AI park exhibition area offering onsite interactions with robots
In addition to the above forums, the conference organizer has also set aside an exhibition area of around 10,000 square meters for an AI park.
There, various types of robots, such as mini humanoid robots and education robots, will show their respective skills and interact with the audiences. Besides, black technology that can improve people’s lives will also be displayed in the area, including air picks that can be used quickly to play guitars and many other instruments, and 3D food printing.
