The 13th Meeting of International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing

On May 27, 2018, the 13th Meeting of International Business Leaders Advisory Council for the Mayor of Beijing was held. 17 consultants from world-renowned multinational companies attended the meeting in Beijing to offer suggestions on the city’s economic and social development.

7 consultants, namely Mr. Dominic Barton, Chairman and Global Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company, Mr. Paul Rawlinson, Global Chair of the Executive Committee of Baker McKenzie, Mr. Urs Rohner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Group, Mr. Victor K. Fung, Chairman of Fung Group, Mr. Vincent Lau, Chairman of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mr. Mark Tucker, group chairman of HSBC and Mr. Olivier Brandicourt, CEO of Sanofi Group, expressed their views around the topic of “developing a higher-level open economy”. 10 consultants, namely Mr. Peter Voser, chairman of the board of directors at ABB, Mr. Ralph Hamers, Chairman of Executive Board and CEO of ING Group, Mr. Nobuhiro Endo, Global Chairman of Nippon Electric Company Limited, Mr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Mr. Gerard Mestrallet, Honorary Chairman of ENGIE Group, Mr. Yoshihisa Suzuki, President of ITOCHU Corporation, Mr. Kanetsugu Mike, President and CEO of MUFG, Mr. Kazuhiro Tsuga, Representative Director, President of Panasonic, Mr. Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Schneider Electric and Mr. Antoine Frerot, Chairman and CEO of Veolia Environment expressed their views around the topic of "improving urban construction and management”.

11 consultants, namely Mr. Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of EDF, Mr. Leif Johansson, Chairman of Ericsson Group, Mr. Risto Siilasmaa, Chairman of Nokia Corporation, Mr. Robert E. Moritz, Global Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. David Taylor, Executive Chairman of Procter & Gamble, Mr. Heinrich Hiesinger, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Group, Mr. Brian Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast NBC Universal Group, Mr. Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG, Mr. Alexandre Bompard, Chairman and CEO of the Carrefour, Mr. Darryl White, CEO of BMO Financial Group and Mr. Steve Kandarian, Chairman, President and CEO of MetLife Group, also submitted written advisory reports.

Mayor Chen Jining attended the meeting and commented on the advisory opinions. Yin Hejun, Yan Zhenjiang, Wang Ning, Yin Yong, Lu Yan, Yang Bin and Wang Hong, all being a vice mayor, and Jin Wei, Secretary of Municipal Government and other city leaders attended the meeting.

27 related committees and offices in Beijing, Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, Administrative Committee of Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area, Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, leaders of 16 district governments and 31 leader representatives of international business leaders’ advisors in Beijing, some heads of Beijing municipal enterprises and more than 180 of news media representatives were present at the meeting.

Zhang Yongming, President of CCPIT Beijing, together with leaders Ma Changjun, Lin Bin, Li Luxia and Wang Chaoying attended the meeting. The meeting was organized by the Secretariat of the Advisory Council for the Mayor (CCPIT Beijing).
