21st CHITEC to Be Held in Beijing on 17-20 May

The 21^st China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) will take place May 17 (Thursday) to 20 (Sunday), 2018 in Beijing, under the theme of “Take the Lead in Hi-tech Industries and Facilitate the Development of S&T Innovation Centers”. In commitment to the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and the new vision for development, the Expo will serve the needs of national strategic initiatives and socioeconomic development through well-designed comprehensive activities, exhibitions, forums, business talks and e-exhibitions.

The CHITEC main exhibitions and meetings will be held respectively in China International Exhibition Center (Old Venue) and National People’s Political Consultative Conference Hall. The event will:

(a) unveil the latest development in China’s advanced and core technologies for big data, smart manufacturing, marine science, and equipment manufacturing, demonstrating their international competitiveness;

(b) present dedicated activities such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei collaborative innovation exhibition, promotion session for hi-tech agricultural businesses based in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, military-civilian dual-use technology exhibition, and promotion session for military-civilian technology transfer projects, to support national strategic initiatives, particularly through facilitated international exchanges and cooperation under the B&R Initiative;

(c) focus on the new economy, new industries, new formats and new models, and drive technological development and application in such industries as culture, information, finance, and winter sports, fostering a new wave of innovation and entrepreneurship;

(d) showcase technological innovations from Beijing’s development zone and three innovation parks as well as ten hi-tech industries, as part of the effort to support the capital’s urban strategic positioning and manage “big city disease”; and

(e) offer a platform for government-industry-university-research cooperation, to pace up the application of technological innovation and economic upgrading.

Highlights of the event include: activities such as China Science and Technology Innovation Forum & Themed Talks and “Meeting Beijing in the CHITEC”; forums including China Finance Forum and China’s Emerging Industries Development Forum; promotion sessions, for international marine technology and cooperation projects and for technological commercialization, among others; and exhibitions, dedicated to technological innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives, achievements of technological innovation and entrepreneurial activities in Zhongguancun Innovation Park, and technological application in the culture industry, for example.

The event will also serve as a permanent platform offering all-year-round comprehensive services from business and product promotions to matchmaking, notably via online channels including the CHITEC official website, the public information platform of www.eccpitbj.org, and the WeChat official account of CCPIT Beijing.

CHITEC is a national event for global discussions and exchanges on science and technology approved by the State Council, hosted by Ministry of Science and Technology, CCPIT, State Intellectual Property Office, and Beijing Municipal Government, and organized by CCPIT Beijing Branch. It was launched in 1998, entitled “China Beijing International High-tech Industry Week”. The name was officially changed to China Beijing International High-Tech Expo in 2002. There have been 20 successful yearly events and the Expo has become a globally renowned signature event to showcase domestic and foreign cutting-edge technologies, spread leading ideas, release industry-related policies and enhance global technological cooperation.
