The opening ceremony was hosted by Cheng Hong, Vice Chairman of the ICCIE Organizing Committee & Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipal Government. At the Expo, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee announced the first municipal cultural & creative industrial demonstration parks.

Launched in 2006, the ten-year-old ICCIE is advancing hand in hand with Chinese cultural & creative industries. Recognized both by the international community and by the governments and relevant sectors in China as an influential gala of global cultural & creative industries, it has become a brand event to promote the exemplary role of Beijing as a national cultural center and the building of China into a cultural giant. Over the past ten years, ICCIE has aligned itself with the national strategy of developing cultural sectors, and borne witness to the advent, formation and burgeoning of Chinese cultural & creative industries. It has facilitated the high-end integration of global cultural resources, and served as a platform to promote the inheritance and innovation of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, the growth of emerging cultural sectors, the combination of culture, finance and technology, the allocation of elements in cultural markets, and the fostering of cultural and creative talents.

With the theme of “Promoting innovation, integration and cultural prosperity”, nearly 100 activities in 6 series will be organized in the name of “general activities”, “exhibitions”, “special sessions”, “forums”, “business promotions” and “creative activities” respectively and an e-exhibition will be held via ICCIE’s website and other platforms. These activities and efforts aim to showcase the latest achievements of cultural innovation and restructuring at a time when the Chinese economy has entered into a “new normal”, shed light on the trends of emerging sectors which combine culture with technology, innovation, finance, tourism and sports, and elaborate on the new ideas, modes and paths of Chinese cultural & creative industries in the context of “new normal”. Serving as a better platform for gathering together industrial elements and integrating and optimizing market resources, it will promote cultural and creative projects and trade, and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of cultural sectors. 45 international delegations attended 2015 ICCIE, with their representatives coming from such international organizations as WIPO, EU, and League of Arab States (LAS), as well as from countries and regions including Russia, Hungary, Germany, France, Australia, Iran, Egypt, Argentina, and South Korea. Meanwhile, 23 provincial (municipal/autonomous region) delegations exhibited in the event, including Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Anhui, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tibet, Qinghai, and Xinjiang.

Yan Xiaohong said at his speech that by virtue of the favored environment for cultural industries and abundant cultural resources of Beijing, ICCIE is entering its tenth year. Over the past decade, ICCIE has distinguished itself and played a significant role in bringing together resources of cultural & creative industries, improving development capacity for cultural innovation, and promoting cultural exchange and cooperation, by broadening its approaches, enriching its connotations, and innovating activities. According to statistics, since the first Expo in 2006, ICCIE has attracted 300-odd governmental agencies, trade groups, and international organizations from dozens of countries and regions; more than 10,000 cultural & creative firms at home and abroad; and 1,000-odd well-known industrial specialists and scholars and high-rank government officials. With a total value of signed contracts of RMB 589.8 billion, ICCIE has become an influential gala of global cultural and creative industries to conduct industrial cooperation and trading, lead industrial trends, and boost industrial innovation and development.

Yan said that 2015 ICCIE comes duly as the speech essence of President Xi Jinping in the forum on literature and art and the Central Opinions on Prosperity and Development of Socialist Literature and Art are gaining momentum and the 13th Five-Year Plan is under planning. 2015 ICCIE is themed with “Promoting innovation, integration and cultural prosperity” and proceeds from integration of culture and related industries. With a focus on such national strategies as the "One Belt and One Road" Initiative and Jing-Jin-Ji Integration, the Expo seeks to shed light on emerging sectors which combine culture other fields and create a favorable atmosphere of "popular entrepreneurship and mass innovation", and has orchestrated a variety of activities. The event not merely represents an important measure in line with the initiative of the central government, but also reflects the trends of the cultural & creative industries. It therefore plays a positive role in showcasing the achievements of the cultural & creative industries, promoting industrial integration, improving industrial innovation capacity, and expanding exchange and cooperation in relevant sectors between China and foreign countries. We are sincerely hopeful that all our fellows in the cultural & creative industries at home and abroad will take full advantage of this gala to communicate widely and strengthen cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit so as to deliver socio-economic benefits.

Li Wei said at his speech that ICCIE serves as a crucial window, offering a panoramic view of the cultural industries of China and a glimpse of the forefront of China's cultural sectors. ICCIE is entering its tenth year, along with the rapid development of the cultural & creative industries of China. Over the past decade, ICCIE has received strong support from relevant departments of the central government and sister municipalities/provinces/autonomous regions and attracted the involvement of exhibitors both at home and abroad. It has been committed to integrating high-end cultural & creative resources in China and even around the globe and building an exchange and cooperation platform for the cultural & creative industries, and has become a brand event to promote the exemplary role of Beijing as a national cultural center and the building of China into a cultural giant.

According to Li, the past decade has also witnessed the infancy, growth, and fast development of cultural & creative industries of Beijing. Benefiting from rapid development during the 11th and 12th Five-Year plans, the cultural & creative industries of Beijing have exhibited enormous vigor and dynamism—the added value of these industrial jumped from RMB 67.41 billion in 2005 to RMB 282.63 billion in 2014 with an annual average growth rate of 17.3%, representing 13.2% of the total GDP of Beijing, a historical high. At present, cultural & creative industries are taking a more and more steady leading position in the economy of Beijing and playing an increasingly significant role in underpinning the transformation and upgrading of the city's industries. Notably, ICCIE has made great contributions to boosting the cultural & creative industries of Beijing. ICCIE is dedicated to serving the national development strategy for cultural industries and promoting socio-economic development of Beijing. By bringing together resources and wisdom from all sources by virtue of Beijing's unique resource superiority as the national cultural center, it has increasingly become a compelling featured event for the cultural & creative industries of Beijing to lead China and go global. 2015 ICCIE is closely in line with the development of the times and seeks to serve the overall interests, which reflects its authority and influence as a national expo for cultural industries. We hope our fellows will increase communication and strengthen cooperation to realize a win-win result. We will offer the best services to everyone and make ICCIE  better and better and achieve more.
