Chairperson Xiong Jiuling’s Address at “One Belt and One Road” Business Salon

  Ladies and gentlemen,

  Good afternoon.

  First, on behalf of CCPIT Beijing and Beijing Chamber of International Commerce (BCIC), the Co-organizers of “One Belt and One Road” Business Salon, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the officials from embassies in China of countries along the Belt and Road, and to the 100-odd Chinese entrepreneurs from Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Guangxi. Special thanks go to fellow officials from the embassies for taking time out of your tight schedules to attend the Salon, for your long-term support for the Co-organizers, and for your contributions to international economic and trade development.

  The initiative of the Chinese government to jointly build the Belt and Road (i.e. the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21^st-century Maritime Silk Road), embracing the trend toward a multipolar world, economic globalization, cultural diversity and greater IT application, is in the interests of the world community. Reflecting the common ideals and pursuit of human societies, it is a positive endeavor to seek new models of international cooperation and global governance, and will inject new positive energy into world peace and development. The initiative is designed to uphold the global free trade regime and the open world economy in the spirit of open regional cooperation. It is aimed at encouraging the countries along the routes to carry out broader and more in-depth regional cooperation of higher standards, and jointly create an open, inclusive and balanced regional economic cooperation architecture that benefits all. Since its proposal, the initiative has attracted close attention from all over the world, and particularly the engagement and support of countries and regions along the routes.

  In line with the trends of world economy and trade, CCPIT Beijing and BCIC have established different types of economic and trade platforms - including the Salon as one of the information hubs - to promote the implementation of the initiative. By inviting commercial service offices under embassies in China of countries along the routes to talk face to face with domestic enterprises, the Salon, with the theme of “New Silk Road, New Business Opportunities”, not only facilitates the access of the enterprises and relevant institutions to more abundant and authoritative overseas investment and trade information, but also offers the offices a better sense of the enterprises’ expectations of the investment environment of their respective countries. We believe that the latest business opportunities unveiled by the offices and the experience shared by the enterprises will bring potential partners, clients and ideas to all guests present. It is our hope that the enterprises will network with the offices on the spot to collect information and identify niches. After the Salon, we will process the information of higher value and spread it via the Internet to more Chinese enterprises.

  In the future, CCPIT Beijing and BCIC will continue to build platforms for Sino-foreign economic cooperation and exchange, and stage similar events for domestic and international enterprises and government organs. I would like to take this opportunity to invite fellow guests to the 10^th China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo held by CCPIT Beijing on Oct. 29^th-Nov. 1^st, 2015.
