On April 9th, the China Academy of Industrial Internet jointly established the Industrial Internet Platform Innovation Cooperation Center with multiple industrial Internet platform enterprises and public institutions affiliated to different ministries.
Wang Jiangping, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), believed that the establishment of an industrial Internet platform innovation cooperation center is an important action to promote the development and application of the industrial Internet, which is conducive to improving the promotion mechanism of the platform, enhancing the synergies, promoting interconnection, building a platform system, promoting the development of the platform and advancing empowerment. The Center is of great significance for the in-depth implementation of the industrial Internet innovation and development strategy.
The Industrial Internet Platform Innovation Cooperation Center is an exchange platform and innovation carrier jointly initiated and established by 7 public institutions affiliated to different ministries and more than 170 industrial Internet platform enterprises under the guidance of the Information Technology Development Department of MIIT.
As a new means of the digital economy that directly serves industries, the industrial Internet has been applied to 37 key industries of the economy such as raw materials and equipment manufacturing. The application scenarios extend from peripheral areas such as sales and logistics to internal fields including research and development, production control, and testing.
The scale of the industrial Internet industry is also expanding. According to estimates, the economic scale of China’s industrial Internet industry reached 3.1 trillion yuan in 2020, accounting for 2.9% of GDP, contributing more than 16% to the growth of the digital economy with 1.3129 million jobs offered.
“After three years of hard work, the ‘comprehensive + characteristic + professional’ industrial Internet platform system has been gradually established. Currently, there are more than 100 platforms with certain industry and regional influence with over 70 million connected devices. The number of industrial apps exceeds 590,000, and the empowerment of such platforms has been further strengthened.” Said Xie Shaofeng, Director of the Information Technology Development Department of MIIT, when asked about the development of the industrial Internet platform.
However, the overall development and foundation of China’s industrial Internet still needs to be strengthened. The key basic support capabilities are insufficient. Core technologies and high-end products cannot meet the application needs of the entire industry. It still depends on foreign supply in four aspects: industrial control systems, high-end industrial software, industrial networks, and industrial information security.
Xu Xiaolan, president of the China Academy of Industrial Internet, suggested implementing the “four major” strategies of large-scale policies, large platforms, large programs, and large projects to accelerate the formation of an independent and controllable development system for industrial embedded operating systems. Increase investment in basic research, establish several state-level key laboratories, set up special science and technology projects, and develop independent operating systems.
The Center will give full play to the core role of the platform in the industrial Internet, break through the barriers of innovation, industrial, supply, demand, capital, and talent chain, and accelerate the standardized, systemic, and innovative development of the platform. “In the future, we will focus on building the Innovation Center into a platform for high-end communication in the industrial Internet industry, a platform for integration and innovation, and a platform for win-win cooperation.” Said Yu Liang, chairman of CASICloud-Tech Co., Ltd.
