On July 30, the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and other departments held a press conference to introduce to the public the relevant information of the Initiative for Accelerating the Construction of New Scenarios and Cultivating a New Ecology of Digital Economy in Beijing (the “Initiative”). At the press conference, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission released 30 application scenario construction projects in the second batch. These 30 projects involve a total investment of RMB 5.29 billion, which will drive the iterative upgrade and demonstrative application of the underlying technologies in the Beidou, AI, 5G and other fields.
Beijing issued the Initiative for Accelerating the Construction of New Scenarios and Cultivating a New Ecology of Digital Economy in Beijing in June. 10 key tasks were proposed in the Initiative. In terms of smart transportation, 5G Internet of Vehicles roadside infrastructure will be deployed to build up a green, safe and smart travel system; in terms of smart medical care, the construction of Internet hospitals, and the cross-integration of AI and other technologies with medical health will be promoted; in terms of online education, a digital resource sharing exchange center and unified service portal and pilot smart campuses will be built to drive the modernization of education with digitalization; in terms of "Technology-equipped Winter Olympics", the experience and application of smart technology will be accelerated in key procedures and key areas such as competition organization, participation, and watching.
After the first batch of 10 application scenarios, as well as 20 central enterprise application scenarios last year, at this press conference, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission released the second batch of 30 application scenarios construction projects, which are generally targeted at the "pain points" in urban governance. Tongzhou District also released the first batch of application scenario construction projects for the city’s sub-center. A total of 6 projects are included, involving a total investment of more than RMB 380 million and focusing on key sectors such as industrial upgrading, urban management, and peoples livelihood services, and key areas such as Zhangjiawan Design Town and Urban Green Heart.
Digital economy has also been the focus of the CIFTIS throughout the years. At the "Beijing Unicom 5G Ecological Cooperation Conference" held during the 2019 CIFTIS, Yang Xiuling, Deputy Secretary-General of the Peoples Government of Beijing Municipality stated that Beijing would continue to give full play to its fundamental advantages in technological research, talent resources, service platform, entrepreneurial innovation environment, etc. and focus on the implementation of the scenarios based on the “1551 Project” proposed by the Initiative for 5G Industry Development in Beijing (2019-2022) as the general program. In addition to autonomous driving, smart city, ultra-HD video, smart medical care, industrial Internet and other fields, more application scenarios will be opened, and therefore Beijing will be the one with the most open 5G application scenarios. At the same time, Beijing will also focus on demonstrative applications to promote the high-quality development of the 5G industry.
The 2020 CIFTIS will be held in Beijing in September with the theme of "Global Services, Shared Prosperity”. Focusing on the development achievements of the service sector and service trade, the smart application of cutting-edge technologies, etc., this CIFTIS will adopt a new exhibition model of "1+8+N". One selected exhibition and 8 feature exhibitions will be organized, and N functional service areas will be established around the exhibition venue. The Selected Exhibition Area will consist of China Trade in Services Achievement Zone, Public Health and Epidemic Prevention Zone, National, Provincial, Regional and Municipal Zone, and Enterprises Zone of Twelve Sectors of Trade in Services. “8” means eight Feature exhibition areas, namely Culture Services, Financial Services, Winter Sports, Tourism Services, Service Robots, Educational Services, Sports Services and 5G Communication Services. “N” means N Functional service areas providing supporting services such as negotiation, experience, and catering.
A release hall has been set up as a platform for the exhibitors to release the latest technologies, products, achievements, policies, industry standards, development indexes, development reports and service demonstration cases.
Online and offline exhibitions will be integrated to create a "Cloud CIFTIS", not only to respond to the COVID-19 but also to make new attempts in form innovation. In terms of exhibition and display, conventional pages and electronic virtual booths will be provided to create a smart visual experience and break space constraints. In terms of forums and conferences, 5G, live video, video conferencing, online translation and other technical means will be used to connect online and offline conferences and forums to relieve geographical and language constraints. In terms of negotiation and transaction, various tools such as instant messaging, video negotiation, online translation, and smart customer service will be introduced to build a cloud virtual negotiation room to remove offline restrictions.
