Vice Mayor YIN Yong Visits CCPIT Beijing

May 8, Mr. Yin Yong, Vice Mayor of Beijing and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, paid a visit to CCPIT Beijing. Zhang Yongming, Party Secretary and Director of the Council, several members of the leading team including Ma Changjun, Lin Bin and Li Xuchen attended the meeting. Present were also the persons in charge (including acting heads) of the departments and centers.

Yin Yong pointed out that CCPIT Beijing plays an essential role in the city’s trade promotion, investment promotion, exhibition industry, and foreign exchanges, especially in the service for major national events that shape the image of the capital, including the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, APEC, and the Beijing Day of World During International Horticultural Exhibition 2019. It should be acknowledged that the Council has made vigorous efforts in this regard and the outcomes achieved were excellent, which all showed its outstanding service skills and capacity.

Yin Yong raised eight requirements for the future work of CCPIT Beijing: First, the training and education for the leading officials should be enhanced. Although the current staff is already of desirable qualities, the leadership of the CCPIT should enhance their sense of responsibility by strengthening their education and training in practical with the aim of creating a loyal and clean-handed team of trade promotion. Second, the organization should better follow the new international economic and trade development trend. With a future-oriented mind, special attention should be given to the thorough study of the new conditions against the background of global protectionism and Sino-US trade disputes, in order to better prepare for long-term challenges, and further expand the city’s international economic and trade activities, and to help the enterprises in their attempts for new breakthroughs. Third, experiences should be gathered from good practices of promoting trade and investment of foreign countries, including United States, Japan, and the European Union. It is important to forge a community of shared interests with the enterprises, and cater to their fundamental with better empathy and collaboration abilities in development. Fourth, the dual identity as both an official and a civil organization should be given better play to establish more effective channels of communication apart from the official connections so as to enhance our ability to negotiate and solve problems with foreign partners. Fifth, the service awareness should be enhanced. Serving the enterprises is all the reason for the Council’s existence. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance its service awareness for better supporting their development in Beijing, especially to attract the “high-tech and high-end” entities and projects that are in line with the city’s industrial development direction and urban function orientation. Sixth, the Council should also help promote the business environment in Beijing. As the foreign economic and trade publicity organization of the municipal party committee and city government, it should further build its awareness and abilities for the publicity work, improve its approaches, and better represent Beijing’s foreign trade associations and enterprises in the attempts to promote the capital’s advantages and improve its business environment. Seventh, efforts must be made to promote the development of the convention and exhibition industry. There is still a gap between status quo of Beijing’s exhibition industry and its position as the capital and it should be noticed that some good resources are being lost. In this regard, CCPIT should play its role as the promoter for the industry, attract international high-quality exhibitions to Beijing, and better serve the existing ones in the city with a stronger sense of responsibility and honor. Eighth, the focus should be placed on party construction. Party secretaries must earnestly fulfill the responsibility as the top leader. The members of the leadership must also perform their respective responsibilities and handle the work of party management. It is necessary to advance all kinds of work through strict governance of the party, and to reflect the achievements obtained in that process in the development of trade promotion and solving problems of people’s concerns. In line with the requirements of the municipal party committee, the municipal government, and the leading group for party conduct and the building of clean government, the problems and existing deficiencies found in the previous work shall be rectified and, accordingly, mechanisms and records should be established to ensure the successful performance of the task.
