On the afternoon of Oct. 24th, 2018, during an event dedicated to joint construction of the Belt and Road (B&R) on the occasion of the 22nd Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, CCPIT Beijing signed with Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China an agreement of friendly cooperation on B&R projects. The event and the signing ceremony were attended by Wang Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing, Edward Yau Tangwah, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of Hong Kong, and Vincent Lo Hongshui, Chair of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Zhang Yongming, Chair of CCPIT Beijing, and Siu Waikwan, Chair of Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties.
As a member entity of the Office of the Leading Group for Advancing the Development of the Belt and Road, CCPIT Beijing has established friendly relations with 201 chambers of commerce or trade promotion agencies in 83 countries/regions. Founded in Beijing in 1993, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China is committed to promoting economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Mainland China through its services for local citizens and companies. The two parties will share resources and unleash their respective advantages to jointly build a platform for B&R projects, keeping companies, especially SMEs with global ambitions, informed of local policies and market information, connecting them to potential partners, and facilitating exhibitions and promotions.
The event was held by Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, CCPIT Beijing, InvestHK, HKTDC and Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China. Some 120 entities attended, including multinationals in Beijing; Hong Kong-funded firms; key financial and technical companies; and State-owned enterprises, private enterprises, chambers of commerce and commercial associations doing business in other B&R countries.
