Zhang Yongming Meets with President of Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry

2018-10-26 9:26:02

On the morning of Oct. 15th (local time), Zhang Yongming, Chairman of CCPIT Beijing, led an economic and trade delegation of Beijing to the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a sister chamber of commerce of CCPIT Beijing, and talked with Acting Director Aca Popovic about the upcoming 2nd Roundtable of Presidents of Chambers of Commerce of Capital Cities and the deepening of bilateral cooperation.

Mr. Zhang noted that as the two capitals’ trade promotion institutions and chambers of commerce, CCPIT Beijing/Beijing Chamber of International Commerce and Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry have engaged with each other for a long time. Together they have co-sponsored the Roundtable as a supporting business event of the 3rd China-CEEC 16+1 Capitals Mayors Forum. Mr. Zhang thanked the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its careful preparation of the Roundtable and the gracious hospitality extended to the Beijing delegation. The 29-strong delegation comprises members of 17 Beijing-based companies and institutions concerned. It will not only attend the Forum and the Roundtable, but also hold the China-CEEC 16+1 Economic and Trade Promotion Fair. Given the long-lasting friendship between Chinese and Serbian peoples, companies in Beijing have played an active part in Belt and Road (B&R) projects, eager to team up with their peers in Serbia and other Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs). It follows that CCPIT Beijing and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry are duty-bound to build cooperation platforms for the companies, not least keeping the SMEs with global ambitions informed of local market dynamics, projects, policies and regulations, so as to lower their costs and risk exposure.

Mr. Popovic extended a cordial welcome to the Beijing delegation. A comprehensive strategic partner of China, Serbia, he claimed, is all for the B&R Initiative and China’s outbound investments. The Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CCPIT Beijing have been partners for many years. As the major representatives of the two capitals’ business circles, they are expected to play a greater role in promoting SME cooperation and connectivity through regular communication.

The two sides also compared notes on Roundtable preparation and future cooperation. Milivoje Miletic, Former President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Milan Janković, Former Director of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Vidosava Dzagic, Deputy Director of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended the meeting.

The 3rd China-CEEC 16+1 Capitals Mayors Forum will kick off in Belgrade on the morning of Oct. 16th (local time). As a supporting event, the Roundtable will be held on the afternoon that day.
