On March 28, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)’s Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei sub-councils hosted 2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Trade and Investment Promotion Workshop and preparation meeting for 2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei International Investment & Trade Fair in Shijiazhuang. Among the participants included CCPIT Beijing Chairman ZHANG Yongming, Vice Chairwoman LIN Bin, CCPIT Hebei President WEI Cunji, Vice President HOU Jian, CCPIT Tianjin President ZU Daxiang and Secretary General LU Nan. The meeting attracted nearly 80 people, including relevant personnel from CCPIT’s Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei sub-councils, logistics associations, Hebei’s municipal CCPIT councils, Xinji and Dingzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and supporting staff from Hebei government.

During the meeting, CCPIT Tianjin delivered the work report as the rotating president for 2017. Attendees also reviewed the current president CCPIT Hebei’s 2018 work plan for coordinated development of 2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei trade and investment promotion, and discussed the overall plan for 2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei International Investment & Trade Fair and Hebei Langfang International Equipment Manufacturing Expo (“2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fair”).

Director ZHANG Yongming pointed out that since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei are committed to work together to break new ground in regional development, further open up the market, and meet CCPIT’s requirements for reform. The three sub-councils should be properly positioned and plan ahead, especially in the following four areas. First, collaborate to strengthen top-level design. The three sub-councils should actively collaborate and integrate trade and investment promotion with the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, development of the Xiongan New Area, as well as the preparation for Winter Olympics. Second, build an eminent brand and raise a stronger global impact. The three sub-councils should work to increase breadth and diversity of international investment, engage in more communication and collaboration with the B&R countries and regions, and improve the brand building of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fair. Third, integrate resources and develop more investment platforms. The three sub-councils should integrate such resources as channels for trade and development, as well as information, and build coordinated platforms for communication, information, training, commercial regulation, trades and exhibitions in order to facilitate global outreach of companies from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Four, optimize work distribution and develop overseas markets. The three sub-councils should delegate work properly with effective communication for an integrative development. They should jointly identify key markets, industries and programs, share resources and engage in global economic and trade activities together to enable the companies to go global.

During the meeting, the three sub-councils signed the revised MOU on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Investment and Trade Promotion. The new MOU focuses on regional integration of trade and investment, establishment of global investment platforms, new model for overseas investment, and supporting companies to invest in the B&R Initiative. The new MOU will lead Beijing-Tianjing-Hebei trade and investment to expanded areas.

2018 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fair will be held from September 6 to September 8 in Langfang, Hebei.
