On Oct. 23rd, 2017, Zhang Yongming, President of CCPIT Beijing, met with a delegation of Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by President Walter Ruck. The two sides conducted in-depth discussion and signed up to the Beijing Consensus on Cooperation of “Belt and Road” Alliance of Municipal Chambers of Commerce.
Mr. Zhang appreciated the constant support of Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry for CCPIT Beijing. The Belt and Road (B&R) initiative, he claimed, has received active response from all over the world, adding new momentum to win-win cooperation and coordinated development of global chambers of commerce and industry. It is in such a context that CCPIT Beijing proposed the “Belt and Road” Alliance of Municipal Chambers of Commerce. The alliance, as he put it, aims to forge greater consensus on cooperation, combine the strength and premium resources of national, regional and municipal chambers of commerce, develop itself into a mutually collaborative, supportive, trusting service alliance of industrial and commercial circles of B&R countries, and in turn enhance friendship among cities. He also believed the consensus between CCPIT and Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry will open up a new chapter of tangible cooperation.
Mr. Ruck recognized the profound friendship between the two chambers of commerce - and especially their frequent exchanges of visits and co-organization of trade fairs. As the B&R initiative has promoted policy coordination, economic integration, cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds, chambers of commerce concerned should strive to seek opportunities for cooperation and engage with one another to provide better services for enterprises. Since the Alliance was established, Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been engrossed in discussing how to assimilate faster into the Alliance to promote economic intercourse between Austria and China, Vienna and Beijing. He looked forward to closer and smoother cooperation on, among others, online display of goods and services, mutual provision of legal advice and commercial services, and reciprocal visits of trade groups.
The “Belt and Road” Alliance of Municipal Chambers of Commerce was established at the 4th Beijing international Conference of Friendly Chambers of Commerce in June 2017.
