On the morning of February 15, 2017, Lin Hai, Director of CCPIT Beijing Business Information Center, met with Dr. Erfa Iqbal, Commercial Counselor with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Both sides had a talk over the establishment of joint venture hospitals in Pakistan.
According to Dr. Erfa Iqbal, CCPIT Beijing is of great help to her in China and an important partner for the Economic Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Embassy. She expressed her thanks to CCPIT Beijing for giving strong support to Pakistan. Along with the fast growth of its population, Pakistan now suffers from shortage of medical resources. The existing medical conditions can no longer meet their needs. Therefore, by taking the opportunity brought about by the Belt and Road (B&R) initiative, China should export a larger quantity of medical resources. This is an all-win measure. Not only can it open up a broader market for Chinese medical service institutions, but it can improve overall medical services in Pakistan, and promote economic and trade development in both nations. Pakistan can provide reliable joint venture partners, and provide support in hospital site selection and land. It is hoped that the Chinese side will arrange missions when appropriate to study Pakistan’s medical market and provide total solutions covering hospital attribute determination, scheme design, financial support, and device supply.
Chiefs of the Center for International Cooperation and Exchange of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences participated in the talk. A project leader with the Center for International Cooperation and Exchange of the National Health and Family Planning Commission noted that China boasts full-fledged medical resources for foreign aid, and when appropriate it can deliver the resources to Pakistan. It is hoped that the Pakistani side will establish a unified platform to coordinate domestic and overseas medical resources currently available, to provide better medical services for the Pakistani people. According to a chief of Fuwai Hospital, the hospital leads the world in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and it intends to cooperate with Pakistan to export medical technology and resources. He invited chiefs of the Pakistani embassy to visit the hospital soon.
Finally, Lin Hai noted this year marks the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. The relations are firm as a rock and ever-lasting. CCPIT Beijing Business Information Center will continue to act as a bridge and contribute to economic cooperation between the two nations.
