Guiyang International Big Data Expo 2015 & Global Big Data Era Guiyang Summit (hereinafter referred to as the “Expo”), co-organized by Guiyang Municipal People’s Government, Zunyi Municipal People’s Government, Administrative Committee of Gui’an New Area, Guizhou Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Internet Society of China, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing), was held in Guiyang on May 26th-29th. As the world’s first big data-themed industrial gathering, the Expo has attracted leading enterprises and figures around the world, showcased recent developments and state-of-the-art technology, and cast light on the future of big data.

At 10 a.m., May 26, Guiyang International Eco-Conference Center observed the grand opening of the Expo. Premier Li Keqiang sent a letter of congratulations, and Vice Premier Ma Kai made opening remarks. Zhao Kezhi, Party Chief of Guizhou Province, Chen Min’er, Governor of Guizhou Province, and Huai Jinpeng, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, addressed the opening ceremony. Industrial tycoons including Jack Ma, Terry Guo, Ma Huateng, Lei Jun and Zhou Hongyi delivered keynote speeches and shared with one another the latest ideas about big data. Chairperson Xiong Jiuling and Vice Chairperson Lin Bin of CCPIT Beijing attended the keynote forum and spoke at two sub-forums - Open Data and Privacy Protection, and Social Governance & Transformation of Government Functions in the Big Data Era.

Preceding the conferences is the exhibition opening ceremony at Guiyang International Conference & Exhibition Center. He Li, Vice Governance of Guizhou, addressed the ceremony. Lin Bin, on behalf of CCPIT Beijing, attended together with the heads of the other five co-organizers. Nearly 1,000 people witnessed the pomp and circumstance of the inaugural Expo, including industrial elites, delegates of participating enterprises and media workers.

On the evening of May 25, Ma Kai, accompanied by Zhao Kezhi, Chen Min’er and Chen Gang, Party Chief of Guiyang, visited the exhibition. Xiong Jiuling made an inspection tour.

With a total exhibition area of about 60,000 m2, the Expo consists of the International Elites Hall, Big Data Application Hall, Big Data Equipment Hall, and Big Data Software and Service Hall. Over 380 enterprises were present, including Microsoft, Google, Intel, HP, CISCO, Oracle, Dell, Alibaba, Foxconn, Qihoo 360, Huawei, Lenovo (Motorola), Jingdong, ZTE and other industry leaders at home and abroad. More than 90% of the exhibition space features a special-purpose decoration. The four-day exhibition recorded a turnout of nearly 60,000 domestic and foreign visitors.

With the theme of “Guizhou cloud and Guiyang big data”, the big data business model innovation contest was held on the occasion of the Expo. Focused on open data and data exchange, the contest attracted the participation of outstanding enterprises and teams at home and abroad.

On May 29, the Expo concluded on a high note. The success of the event should be attributed to the energetic support of various governments, the close cooperation of the co-organizers, and the valuable assistance of other stakeholders.

“A new tide of technical and industrial revolution is surging forward in today’s world, hailing data as a basic resource and an important productive force. The integration of big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things and other new technology is bringing rapid and increasingly profound changes to people’s life and production, and the Internet-plus strategy will play a crucial role in enhancing industrial competitiveness and overall national strength,” said Li Keqiang in the letter of congratulations. CCPIT Beijing will seize the opportunity and further its cooperation with relevant authorities to map out the next year’s Expo.

On May 27, CCPIT Beijing and Guiyang Municipal People’s Government concluded a framework agreement concerning further strategic cooperation on Big Data Expo 2016 at the Banquet Hall of Guiyang International Eco-Conference Center. The signing ceremony was chaired by Liu Chuncheng, Vice Mayor of Guiyang, and attended by Wang Jiangping, Vice Governor of Guizhou.
