The “Forum on Environment and Sustainable Development” Takes Place in Beijing

On Feb. 15, the “Forum on Environment and Sustainable Development” took place in Beijing Kerry Center by the Elite Delegation of Environment and Sustainable Development in Victoria; the CCPIT Beijing co-organized it. John Brumby, Governor of the Victoria State, LI Zibin, Chairman of the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME), and LI Shouxin, Director of the Planning Division of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), were present and delivered a speech.

China (Hong Kong included) is the first large trade partner of Victoria; the bilateral trade volume reached 10.8 billion Australian dollars in 2006.

The forum consisted of official guests’ speeches, industrial experts’ speeches and free buffet discussion. The theme of the forum involved in the planning and design of the sustainable cities, water environment treatment and protection, clean production of petroleum industry, etc. Governor Brumby was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Chinese and overseas businessmen made extensive communications and negotiations. After the forum, the Australian side stated that the forum was very successive and provided good foundation for the cooperation in the future.
