North American Chairs of Chamber of Commerce delegation visits Beijing for the first time

A North American delegation composed of chairs of 42 American city chambers of commerce and one Canadian chamber of commerce visited Beijing 13 March 2009. These cities include Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Oklahoma, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Honolulu of the US and Canada’s Edmonton. Head of the delegation was Chair of US Chamber of Commerce Metropolitan Commission, also Chair of big Oklahoma chamber of commerce Mr. Roy WILLIAMS. This was the first visiting delegation to China that was composed of chairs of all big US city and region chamber of commerce. This delegation also planned to visit ShangHai, SuZhou and HangZhou, observing China’s history and culture, economic development situation, seeking business circle cooperation opportunities with China, advancing bilateral trade, co-conquering impact brought about by the international financial crisis.

Via CCPIT Beijing’s arrangement, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Government Mr. LIU Zhi met with all members of the delegation, introduced the city’s economic development situation, impact of the world-wide financial crisis and countermeasures against it. In addition, at the request of the delegation, Mr. LIU shared experiences of Beijing’s staging the 2008 Olympic Games, answered the delegation’s interested questions.
