Prices of Farm Produce Rise Slightly while Prices of Means of Production Continue Falling

According to the monitoring by MOFCOM, the prices of major farm produce in 36 large and medium-sized cities rose slightly and the prices of means of production continued falling last week (January 19-January 25).

The average wholesale price of 18 vegetables was up 1.9% compared with the previous week, with melon and fruit vegetables such as wax gourd, green pepper and chili leading the gains, up 6/7%, 6.2% and 6% month on month respectively. The prices of aquatic products went up 0.3% compared with the previous week, among which crucian, big hairtail and grass carp leading the gains, up 2.3%, 1.4% and 0.2% respectively. The prices of grain remained stable, with the prices of rice and flour remaining the same as the previous week. The prices of edible oil dropped, with the prices of soybean oil and rap oil down 0.3% and 0.2%, and peanut oil up 0.1% week on week respectively. The prices of meat remained stable, with the prices of pork and beef down 0.4% and 0.3% respectively, and mutton up 0.1%. The prices of eggs and poultry fluctuated slightly, with the price of eggs continuing falling, down 0.7% and chicken rallying, up 0.3%.

The prices of steels decreased 1.4%, with the prices of ordinary sheet of hot rolling and hot rolled strip down 2.1% and 1.8% respectively. The prices of rubber went down 0.4%, with the prices of synthetic rubber down 1.9% and natural rubber up 0.7%. The prices of basic chemical fertilizers dropped 0.4%, with the prices of methyl alcohol and pure benzene down 2.1% and 1.8% respectively. The price of coal went down 0.1%, with the prices of anthracite and coking coal down 0.4% and 0.3% respectively and steam coal remaining the stable. The prices of chemical fertilizers remained stable, with the prices of potassium chloride down 0.2%, NPK and DAP remaining the same as the previous week and urea up 0.1%. The prices of nonferrous metals up 0.4%, with the prices of nickel, zinc, lead, aluminum and tin up 3.3%, 1.8%, 1.7%, 0.4% and 0.3%, and copper down 0.4%.
